Men’s Wrestling Falls to Nationally Ranked Spartans

1/23/2026 11:21:00 PM

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Washington & Jefferson College men's wrestling team (5-10) was downed 50-0 to the No. 21 dual-ranked Case Western Reserve Spartans (11-2).

The Spartans showed why they are receiving a national ranking right from the beginning, taking the first three weight classes by fall and technical fall.

Senior Bryce Rodriguez-Uram (Carnegie, Pa./Carlynton) tried to shift some of the momentum back to the Presidents. Rodriguez-Uram forced the Spartans to wrestle to the distance in the 149-pound match. The senior ultimately fell 8-4 but put together a strong showing.

The Spartans continued to extend their lead, but the Presidents did not give up that easily. Junior Jaden Fields (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) had a tough opponent in the No. 11-ranked national wrestler in the 197-pound weight class. Fields forced his opponent to go the distance as well, ultimately succumbing to a 7-1 decision.

The Spartans went on to take the final weight class and the dual overall, 50-0.

The Presidents have a short break before hosting a Presidents' Athletic Conference tri-dual on Friday (Jan. 30). W&J will host the Thiel Tomcats at 7:00 p.m. and follow it up with the rescheduled dual against Bethany Bison at 8:15 p.m.
