Women’s DMR Unit Shatters Program Record at YSU Mid-Major Invitational

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Washington & Jefferson College Track & Field teams wrapped competition at day one of the YSU Mid-Major Invitational hosted by Division I Youngstown State.
 
Highlighting the night for the Presidents was the W&J women's distance medley relay unit consisting of Claire Anderson (Jamestown, Pa./Jamestown), Maria Gilles (North Ridgeville, Ohio/Lake Ridge Academy), Myleigh Mashburn (Monongahela, Pa./Ringgold), and Cali LaRue (Pittsburgh, Pa./Montour). The squad shattered the W&J Women's Indoor Distance Medley Relay program record with a time of 12:22.49 to finish third overall. The group eclipsed the previous mark of 12:48.41, set during the 2024 season by Anderson, Gilles, LaRue, and Jadyn Hartner. The time currently ranks fourth in Division III.
 
Sarah Schneider (Warren, Ohio/Lordstown) led the W&J women's jumpers on day one at YSU, finishing 17th in the long jump with a top leap of 4.97 meters (16' 3.75").
 
The DMR unit consisting of Dominic Flitcraft (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell), Anand Karamcheti (Washington, Pa./Washington), Wyatt Stroup (Port Royal, Pa./Juniata) and Daneil Petersen paced their way to an eighth-place finish with a time of 10:38.77. The time currently ranks 15th in Division III.
 
Jacob Derry (Canonsburg, Pa./Corry Area) made his track & field debut for the Presidents, taking 17th in the 5,000-meter run with a mark of 15:39.69.
 
Nick DeSanto (Erie, Pa./McDowell) led the quad of jumpers for the Presidents in the long jump with a distance of 6.13 meters (20' 1.50") for 23rd place.
 
Zachary Werner (McKeesport, Pa./McKeesport) led the men's throwers in the weight throw with a top heave of 13.21 meters (43' 4.25").
 
The Presidents return to action on Saturday (Jan. 31) for day two of the YSU Mid-Major Invitational in Youngstown, Ohio. Events have a scheduled start time of 9:15 a.m.
