GREENWOOD, Ind. – Seven members of the Washington & Jefferson College men's football team have earned spots on the 2025 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Team.
The 2025-26 Academic All-District® Football Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
To be eligible for CSC Academic All-District, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher and be a standout on the field, competing in at least 90 percent of their team's games or starting at least 66 percent of their team's games.
Earning spots on the 2025 CSC Academic All-District® Football Team includes
Jalen Broxie (Coraopolis, Pa./Moon),
Joey DeSabato (Glenshaw, Pa./Shaler Area),
Michael Roginsky (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills),
Joey Lacey (Bristow, Va./Avalon School),
Brock Sherman (Copley, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit),
Jake Mele (Houston, Pa./Chartiers-Houston), and
Liam Campbell (Sharpsville, Pa./Sharpsville). Lacey and Sherman both moved on to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot as finalists. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced Jan. 27, 2026.
Broxie had 44 tackles throughout the 2025 season. The defensive back also had one pass breakup and one fumble recovery. The senior was selected as an All-PAC Honorable Mention this season. In the classroom, Broxie picked up a 3.57 GPA with a major in computing & information studies with an emphasis on data science. This is the first time that Broxie has been selected for the Academic All-District® Team.
DeSabato picked up 435 receiving yards and two touchdowns on offense for the Presidents. The sophomore also was the team's main kickoff returner with 321 yards. In the classroom, DeSabato accumulated a 3.54 GPA as a business administration major with an accounting emphasis. This is also the first time that DeSabato has been selected for the Academic All-District® Team.
Roginsky helped lead the W&J offensive line to a conference leading 65 touchdowns, averaging 43.5 points per game. The All-PAC First Team offensive lineman also made way for W&J to average 152.5 rushing yards per game. This is the second time that Roginsky has been selected for the Academic All-District® Team. Roginsky currently has a 3.78 GPA as an economics major.
Joey Lacey (Bristow, Va./Avalon School) finished the 2025 campaign with 52 tackles, 5.5 of which were tackles for loss. The All-PAC Second Team linebacker also had three sacks with opposing teams losing eight yards of offense. Lacey was named a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell® Trophy for his leadership both in the classroom and on the football field. Lacey accumulated a 3.55 GPA with a major in finance. This is the second time that Lacey has been selected for the Academic All-District® Team.
Sherman led the Presidents with 97 tackles this season. Ten of which were tackles for loss and he also had three sacks. The linebacker had eight quarterback hurries and two fumble recoveries. The sophomore currently has a 3.75 GPA as an accounting major. This is the first year the Sherman has been selected for the Academic All-District® Team.
Mele made appearances in 10 of the Presidents 11 games this season. He was the primary holder this season for both field goals and extra points. Kicker
Deven Wyandt (Altoona, Pa./Bishop Guilfoyle) was 7-9 on field goals and 61-62 on extra points this season with Mele as the holder. In the classroom, Mele accumulated a 3.83 GPA with an accounting major. This is the first time that the junior has been selected for the Academic All-District® Team.
Finally,
Liam Campbell (Sharpsville, Pa./Sharpsville) was the primary kickoff specialist for W&J this season. Campbell averaged 58.8 yards per kickoff and secured 15 touchbacks for the Presidents. Campbell 2-2 on extra points and put one punt inside of the 20-yard line. The junior currently has a 3.54 overall GPA as a business administrator and has been selected for the Academic All-District® Team for the first time.
W&J football has had multiple selections to CSC Academic All-District® Team since 2013.
