TRAFFORD, Pa. – Washington & Jefferson College freshman
Braylon Wagner (New Bethlehem, Pa./Redbank Valley) has been selected as the Presidents' Athletic Conference Football Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference on Monday (Oct. 19).
Wagner is the first freshman W&J football player to earn PAC Offensive Player of the Week since 2014 when
Jesse Zubik '18 earned recognition during his freshman season. Zubik finished with five catches for 190 yards and three touchdowns, helping lead W&J to a 49-18 win at Thiel on November 8 of 2014, helping secure the Presidents' 24th PAC Championship.
Wagner led the W&J offense to a 56-3 road victory over previously undefeated Allegheny. The freshman quarterback finished his third career start with three total touchdowns, 9-of-14 passing for 154 yards through the air and 108 rushing yards on 13 carries for an average of 8.3 yards per carry. Wagner threw both of his passing touchdowns in the first half, one each quarter to junior wide receiver
Joey DeSabato (Glenshaw, Pa./Shaler Area) covering 15 and 26 yards. Wagner's rushing touchdown came on the opening drive of the second half to grow the Presidents' lead to 35-3.
W&J Football travels to Greenville this coming Saturday (Oct. 24) to face the Thiel Tomcats. Kickoff is set for a 1:00 p.m. start at Alumni Stadium.
