WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Lauren Harris recently joined the Washington & Jefferson College softball staff as an Assistant Coach.
"Having worked with Lauren last season, I knew she would be a strong addition to our staff at W&J," said head coach Lexi Buck. "She brings valuable experience in the conference, a strong understanding of what it takes to be successful, and extensive knowledge of catching that will benefit our program."
Harris comes over from Bethany College, where she served as an assistant coach with Coach Buck during the 2026 season. The Bison posted a 30-12 overall record and finished with a 15-7 mark in Presidents' Athletic Conference play. The duo helped the Bison to their first 30-win season as a program since 2010. The team qualified for the six-team PAC Tournament. At the tournament, Bethany compiled a 3-2 record to finish third in the conference, falling just short of a PAC Championship appearance. Offensively, the team led the conference in hits (415), home runs (25) and total bases (578). From a pitching standpoint, Bethany recorded the second most strikeouts and had the third lowest earned-run average among conference teams.
Harris, a North Allegheny High School product, was a four-year starter for PAC member Grove City College. As the Wolverines' backstop, she started 100 games where she collected 83 hits and 42 RBI and a .305 career batting average. Harris helped Grove City to four-straight PAC Tournament appearances. For her efforts on the diamond, Harris earned All-PAC First Team honors following her senior season. Harris graduated from Grove City with a degree in Psychology in the spring of 2024. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in Business Administration from Bethany College.
The W&J Softball team will open its 2027 season at The Spring Games in Central Florida.
