HIRAM, Ohio – The Washington & Jefferson College men's wrestling team (6-12, 4-1) finished third at the 2025-26 Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships.

Junior Jaden Fields (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) and Freshman Jack Viti (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) led the way for the Presidents as conference champions in their weight classes.

As the top seed, Fields finished with two pins and a technical fall en route to the 197-pound championship. The first pin in the opening round came shortly after the opening minute. Both the semifinals and finals finished in just under six minutes. Fields pinned the No. 5 seed in the semifinals and secured the title by winning 16-1.

Viti came into the event as the No. 2 seed. In the quarterfinals, Viti wrestled his way to a 17-5 major decision against the No. 7 seed. In a tight semifinal, Viti was able to successfully pin the No. 3 seed just under five minutes into the match while holding a 10-9 lead. The freshman used that momentum in the finals as Viti secured the 184-pound title with an 11-0 major decision.

Junior Brandon Dami (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) finished in second place in the 125-pound weight class. As the No. 2 seed, Dami got a bye straight to the semifinals. The junior picked up a pin just over two minutes into his bout against the No. 3 seed. Dami ultimately fell to the top seed of the weight class in the finals.

Junior captain Jiovanni DeChicchis (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) wrestled his way to a third-place finish in the 65-pound weight class. The No. 1 seed started his run with a pin just over 90 seconds into the quarterfinal bout. In the semifinals, DeChicchis secured an escape in the final period to send the bout into overtime. The junior ultimately fell by the first tiebreaker when sudden victory was not enough to separate the two wrestlers. DeChicchis wrestled to secure tight 1-0 and 3-1 decisions in the consolation draw to secure a third-place finish.

Four Presidents finished in fourth place in their weight classes. Senior Holden DuBois (Silver Spring, Md./Montgomery Blair) secured a pin in the consolation semifinals of the 125-pound weight class while down 6-3 to make it to the third-place bout. DuBois also represented W&J on the PAC Sportsmanship Team. Sophomore Nathan Thomas (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) upset the No. 5 seed to keep his tournament alive en route to a fourth-place finish. Freshman De'Mier Hamilton (Canton, Ohio/McKinley) held his own against tough opponents en route to the consolation finals. Finally, freshman Jayden Johnson (Keansburg, N. J./Keansburg) got a major decision to upset the No. 5 seed in the consolation semifinals.

W&J returns to the mats when they travel to the NCAA Division III Regional Championships hosted by Ohio Northern. The event will take place on Saturday (Feb. 27) and Sunday (Feb. 28). Times are still to be determined.
