Track & Field Concludes Final Muskie Meet Ahead of PAC Indoor Championships

NEW CONCORD, Ohio – The Washington & Jefferson College track & field teams wrapped competition at the Muskie Meet #4 hosted by Muskingum University. The women finished second while the men took fifth.
 
Sarah Schneider (Warren, Ohio/Lordstown) led the W&J women with a victory in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.79. Lainey Hartner (Washington, Pa./Fort Cherry) placed second in the event with a personal best time of 10.23. Schneider also finished second in the long jump with a top leap of 4.85 meters (15' 11").
 
Freshman Myleigh Mashburn (Monongahela, Pa./Ringgold) had a productive day in the sprints. Mashburn highlighted her night with a second-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:03.09. She also finished third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.05.
 
Abigael Nicolas (Monongahela, Pa./Ringgold) posted two third place finishes in the jump events. The freshman took third in the high jump and the triple jump with respective top jumps of 1.53 meters (5' 0.25") and 10.25 meters (33' 7.50").
 
Alyssa Trn (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg Area) wrapped the top finishers for the women with a third-place finish in the 60-meter dash finals with a time of 8.62.
 
Tavan Schoenberger (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) led the W&J men, jumping his way to a victory in the triple jump with a top distance of 13.19m (43' 3.25"). He also finished fourth in the long jump with a top jump of 6.05 meters (19' 10.25").
 
Anand Karamcheti (Washington, Pa./Washington) won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:02.21, one of three presidents to win their respective events on the night.
 
A pair of freshmen, Daniel Petersen (Monongahela, Pa./Ringgold) and Jacob Derry (Canonsburg, Pa./Corry Area), each finished second in their distance event. Petersen took second in the mile run with a time of 4:37.64. Derry raced his way to second in the 3,000-meter run with a mark of 9:08.03.
 
Junior Nick DeSanto (Erie, Pa./McDowell) also took a second-place finish on the night in the high jump with a height of 1.93 meters (6' 4").
 
The W&J track & field teams are set to return to the Watson and Tressel Training Site at Youngstown State University for the 2025-26 Presidents' Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships. The conference championships are slated for Thursday (Feb. 26) with a start time of 10:30 a.m.
