ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Washington & Jefferson College men's lacrosse team (0-2) fell 25-5 to the Mount Union Purple Raiders (2-0) to close out a quick two-game nonconference road trip.
Junior
Noah Schratz (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) led the Presidents with a three-point night. Schratz had two goals and an assist to round out four shots on goal. Seniors
Braden Petrarco (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) and
Colin Golebiewski (Pittsburgh, Pa./Plum) each had one goal in the contest. Petrarco also added an assist to his overall tally.
The Presidents took advantage of being a man-up. Freshman
Ryan Mey (Bridgeville, Pa./South Fayette) scored his first collegiate goal to help the Presidents go 1-1 with the special teams advantage.
Defensively, Petrarco, Moschetta, and junior
Logan Waychoff (Washington, Pa./Trinity) each led the team with three ground balls apiece. Petrarco also led the team in caused turnovers with two on the night.
Junior
Stephen Moschetta (Washington, Pa./Trinity) made 14 saves in three quarters of action against the Purple Raiders. Junior
John Novoselich (Cornwall on Hudson, N.Y./James I. Oneill) made two saves in one quarter of play.
The Presidents return to campus for their home opener against the Concordia Wisconsin Falcons. The team's home opener and Face Off Against Cancer game benefiting the Don Litzelman Foundation will take place on Sunday (3/1) at 1:00 p.m.
