WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson College men's lacrosse team (0-3) dropped a 22-3 result to the Concordia Wisconsin Falcons.
The Presidents were led by the hat trick effort of senior captain
Braden Petrarco (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) with three goals. Petrarco also had three ground balls and one caused turnover.
William Fenimore (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) had one assist on the day.
Stephen Moschetta (Washington, Pa./Trinity) and
Aaron Alfer (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) each led the team in ground balls with four.
The Falcons opened the contest outscoring the Presidents 11-3 in the first 30 minutes of regulation. Petrarco netted all three of his scores in the first half. His first score came in the first quarter at the 1:20 minute mark to snap a 6-0 run by Concordia Wisconsin.
In the second quarter, Petrarco scored back-to-back goals around the nine-minute mark to bring the Falcons lead to 8-3. The first of the two goals was a W&J man-up power play goal.
W&J capped the contest, surrendering 11 goals throughout the duration of the second half while being held scoreless. The Falcons outshot W&J 62-25and won 19 of the 29 faceoffs.
Moschetta finished 56 minutes in goal with 14 saves on the day.
John Novoselich (Cornwall on Hudson, N.Y./James I. Oneill) put in over three minutes of work in goal with one save.
