Men’s Lacrosse Rolls to First Victory of the Season in 14-4 Win over Earlham

WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson College men's lacrosse team (1-3) picked up its first victory of the season over the visiting Earlham Quakers (0-3).
 
William Fenimore (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) led the way for the Presidents offensively with a six-point performance, including four goals and two assists. Freshman Ryan Mey (Bridgeville, Pa./South Fayette) scored his first collegiate hat trick with three goals on the night along with one assist. Braden Petrarco (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) scored two goals with one assist. Five additional Presidents managed to fin the back of the net once. Dylan Batche (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) led the team in assists with three.
 
Taylor Ramirez (Mount Airy, Md./Seneca Valley) led the team defensively in ground balls (6) and caused turnovers (2). Logan Waychoff (Washington, Pa./Trinity) and Mey each additionally had four ground balls. Aidric Provencher (Valrico, Fla./Bloomingdale) also caused two turnovers.
 
W&J started off on the right foot to open the midweek nonconference clash, netting six goals to Earlham's one in the first 15 minutes. Noah Schratz (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) kicked off the scoring and was followed by three consecutive goals from Fenimore for a first quarter hat trick to go up 4-0. A Quakers goal broke the scoring but was followed by a Ramirez and Mey goal to close the first period. The goal by Mey was the first of his career at Alexandre Stadium.
 
The Presidents outscored the Quakers again in the second quarter before the half, 3-1. Colin Golebiewski (Pittsburgh, Pa./Plum), Fenimore and Batche each netted goals in the quarter to help the Presidents enter the halftime break, up 9-2.
 
W&J continued their offensive momentum, rolling to the 14-4 final score with five goals to Earlham's two. Petrarco netted both of his scores in the third quarter while Mey completed his hat trick in the fourth. AJ Cruz (Waldorf, Md./Westlake) also scored his first collegiate goal to wrap the scoring from both sides.
 
Stephen Moschetta (Washington, Pa./Trinity) picked up the first win of the season for the Presidents in goal. The junior keeper saved 15 shots in 48:28. John Novoselich (Cornwall on Hudson, N.Y./James I. Oneill) had seven saves in 11:32 of time in goal.
 
The Presidents remain at Alexandre Stadium for a spring break matchup with the visiting Moravian Greyhounds on Sunday (March 8). Opening faceoff is set for a 5:00 p.m. start.
