The Washington & Jefferson College track & field teams split for their first two-meet weekend of the season. The Presidents traveled to the Sykes & Sabock Challenge hosted by Penn State University and the Bob Shannon Invitational hosted by Denison University.

W&J was one of a few Division III teams competing at the Division I hosted indoor track & field invitational.

For the second consecutive season,
Claire Anderson (Jamestown, Pa./Jamestown) broke a W&J indoor track & field record at the annual Penn State University hosted event. Anderson shattered her previous record in the 3,000-meter run this afternoon with a time of 9:41.89 to finish second. Anderson was only bested by a runner from Division I West Virginia University. The senior's previous record time was 10:03.74 from the spring of 2025. Her record-breaking time is now currently the seventh fastest time in the country this season.

Fellow teammate
Maria Gilles (North Ridgeville, Ohio/Lake Ridge Academy) continued her strong senior season with a top five finish in the mile run. Gilles raced her way to a fifth-place finish with a personal best time of 5:03.92. Her time places her second all-time in the W&J record books.

Dominic Flitcraft (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell) led the W&J men's runners at PSU, racing to a sixth-place finish in the 3,000-meter run. The junior finished with a personal-best time of 8:36.77 against Division I runners, currently the fastest mark in the event in the conference this season.

Wyatt Stroup (Port Royal, Pa./Juniata) raced his way to a personal-best finish in the mile run with a time of 4:23.68. Stroup's time in the mile is currently the fastest mark in the Presidents' Athletic Conference this season.

Anthony Cestaro III (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers) competed in two events, with his top mark coming in the 200-meter dash. Cestaro III placed 18
th in the 200 with a time of 22.25. The senior sprinter almost tied his personal best time in the 60-meter dash, finishing 23
rd in the prelims with a time of 7.05.

Bob Shannon Invitational
The W&J women competed to a tied for 10
th place finish while the W&J men finished 12
th.

Abigael Nicolas (Monongahela, Pa./Ringgold) led the women's side in the jumping events. Her top placement came in the high jump, taking second with a top mark of 1.53m (5' 0.25"). Nicolas also finished seventh in the long jump with a top jump of 4.50m (14' 9.25").

Lainey Hartner (Washington, Pa./Fort Cherry) raced her way to a seventh-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 10.25.

Tavan Schoenberger (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) led the men's side in the jumping events in Ohio. Schoenberger placed second in the triple jump with a top distance of 12.72m (41' 8.75").

The W&J track & field teams return to the indoor facilities on Saturday (Feb. 14) for the annual SPIRE Collegiate Indoor Games in Geneva, Ohio.
