Men’s Lacrosse Drops Battle with Hanover

HANOVER, Ind. – The Washington & Jefferson College men's lacrosse team (1-5) was bested on its spring break finale by the Hanover Panthers (3-4), 20-6.

The Presidents were led by senior captain Braden Petrarco (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) who scored his second hat trick of the season with three goals. William Fenimore (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan), Braydon Reighard (Oakdale, Pa./South Fayette) and Riley Bullock (Kennett Square, Pa./Wilmington Christian (Del.)) all netted one goal on the day.

The first quarter was a productive period for the Presidents. After going down 2-1 after a Petrarco goal, the senior captain added two consecutive goals to give the Presidents the lead with 6:36 remaining in the opening quarter. The Panthers scored four goals to close the quarter with a 6-3 lead.

W&J was shutout in the second quarter while Hanover added three more goals to take a 9-3 advantage into the half.

Despite the Presidents adding goals from three Presidents in the second half, the Panthers kept their offensive momentum flowing. Hanover outscored W&J 11-3 in the last half of play to take the 20-6 win. Bullock scored his first goal of the season in the fourth quarter at the 11:33 mark on an unassisted effort.

Stephen Moschetta (Washington, Pa./Trinity) played 45 minutes in goal and had eight saves. John Novoselich (Cornwall on Hudson, N.Y./James I. Oneill) closed out the game in the remaining 15 minutes.

The Presidents open Presidents' Athletic Conference play on the road at Hiram on Wednesday (March 18). Opening faceoff is set for a 7:00 p.m. start.
