WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson College men's lacrosse team (4-6) bested the visiting Augustana Vikings (3-7) in a nonconference weekend clash, 12-8.

Ryan Mey (Bridgeville, Pa./South Fayette), Braydon Reighard (Oakdale, Pa./South Fayette) and William Fenimore (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) each finished the day with a hat trick. Mey led the team in points with six and three assists. Braden Petrarco (Irwin, Pa./Norwin), Olin Putz (Rochester, Mich./Stoney Creek) and Dylan Batche (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) each contributed a goal each.

Both units battled to a 2-2 stalemate after the first quarter of action. After the Vikings kicked off the scoring, W&J scored its first goal of the contest at the 11:17 mark off the stick of Batche from AJ Cruz (Waldorf, Md./Westlake). Fenimore scored under two minutes left in the opening quarter to equalize the score at two off a pass from Petrarco.

The W&J offense broke out in the second quarter, outscoring the Vikings 5-1 in the period. Reighard scored a hat trick in the quarter after scoring the first three goals of the quarter for the Red & Black. Mey and Fenimore added markers with under two minutes to play as the Presidents marched to halftime with a 7-3 lead.

The Presidents came out of the break productive offensively, scoring three consecutive goals to start the second half. Petrarco scored a man-up goal after Mey netted the first score of the half. Putz, a long pole defender, scored his first goal of the season on a heave from beyond the midfield line to put W&J up 10-5 at the end of the third.

Despite being outscored 3-2 in the final quarter, the Presidents were able to work their way to a 12-8 nonconference victory. Fenimore and Mey scored goals for the team in the final 15 minutes.

Stephen Moschetta (Washington, Pa./Trinity) had 12 saves in 60 minutes in goal en route to his fourth victory of the season.
