Track & Field Wraps Multi-Meet Weekend

The Washington & Jefferson College track & field teams capped off their split weekend between the Carnegie Mellon Invitational and the Tim Weaver Invitational on Saturday (March 28).
 
Nick DeSanto (Erie, Pa./McDowell) and Tavan Schoenberger (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) led the W&J men's team at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational. DeSanto finished fourth in the high jump with a top leap of 1.90 meters (6' 2.75"). Schoenberger also took fourth in his event, finishing with a best jump of 13.14 meters (43' 1.50") in the triple jump.
 
Sarah Schneider (Warren, Ohio/Lordstown) led the W&J women at the CMU Invitational, posting a seventh-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.29. Schneider also ran a leg in the Presidents' 4x100 relay team that additionally featured Myleigh Mashburn (Monongahela, Pa./Ringgold), Lainey Hartner (Washington, Pa./Fort Cherry) and Alyssa Trn (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg Area). The unit raced to a sixth-place finish with a time of 52.23.
 
Freshman Abigael Nicolas (Monongahela, Pa./Ringgold) led the women's jumpers at the CMU Invite. Nicolas finished with a top jump of 1.50 meters (4' 11") to finish ninth in the high jump. Fellow freshman Ella Neil (California, Pa./California Area) took 13th in the triple jump with a best mark of 9.92 meters (32' 6.50").
 
Katie Kovalchick (Shelocta, Pa./Indiana Area) led the W&J throwers at the Tim Weaver Invitational hosted by Division II West Liberty. Kovalchick's top mark on the day came in the shot put, posting a top heave of 10.23 meters (33' 6.75") to take seventh. She also finished 19th in the discus throw with a top toss of 27.48 meters (90' 2").
 
Cole Pawich (Washington, Pa./Chartiers Houston) led the men's throwers at the Tim Weaver Invitational in West Virginia, finishing 22nd in the discus throw with a toss of 30.93 meters (101' 5"). Jack Felder (Beachwood, Ohio/Beachwood) led the men in the shot put with a throw of 10.11 meters (33' 2") to take 25th.
 
The Presidents return to action on Friday (April 3) for a two-day meet at the Dave Labor Invitational hosted by Division II Slippery Rock. Action is set to kickoff at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.
