BRIDGEPORT, Pa. – Two Washington & Jefferson College women's water polo players have been selected for Collegiate Water Polo Association weekly honors following the conclusion of the team's home CWPA Weekend tournament, as announced by the conference on Wednesday (April 1).

Freshman goalkeeper Lani Weaver (Conroe, Texas/Conroe) has been selected as the CWPA Defensive Player of the Week. Weaver accumulated 25 saves during three out of the team's four games over the weekend. The freshman also had one steal while in goal and picked up an offensive assist.

Classmate Mackenzie Caron (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin) was also selected as the CWPA Rookie of the Week. To begin each quarter, Caron successfully won all 16 swim-offs to get the Presidents on offense first. Offensively, the freshman netted 16 goals and had three assists. Defensively, Caron had eleven steals.

W&J will head to the CWPA Division III Championships on Friday (April 10) in Norton, Mass, hosted by the Wheaton (Mass.) Lyons. The Presidents will enter the conference championships as the No. 3 seed and take on the Grove City Wolverines at 1:00 p.m.
