WASHINGTON, Pa. - The Washington & Jefferson College men's lacrosse team (6-7, 3-2) suffered a 25-2 loss to the Grove City Wolverines (6-7, 4-1) on Wednesday night in a Presidetn's Athletic Conference matchup at Alexandre Stadium.
Ryan Mey (Bridgeville, Pa./South Fayette) and
Braden Petrarco (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) each found the back of the net for the Presidents, with Petrarco also adding an assist on Mey's goal to finish with two points.
The Presidents were able to limit Grove City to just four goals in the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Wolverines were able to score nine unanswered goals, allowing Grove City to hold a demanding 13-0 lead at the half.
Each of Mey's and Petrarco's goals occurred in the second half, but Grove City continued its dominant offense in the back half of the contest. The Wolverines added 12 more goals en route to their victory, 25-2.
Stephen Moschetta (Washington, Pa./Trinity) suffered the loss for W&J as the starting goalkeeper, while recording 12 saves.
John Novoselich (Cornwall on Hudson, N.Y./James I. Oneill) played the final 23 minutes and 59 seconds for Presidents and recorded six saves.
W&J men's lacrosse returns to action on Saturday in Meadville against the Allegheny Gators. The conference clash is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
