WASHINGTON, Pa. - The Washington & Jefferson College women's lacrosse team (5-5, 3-2) rolled to a 23-3 victory over the Geneva Golden Tornadoes (1-12, 0-5) in Presidents' Athletic Conference action Wednesday afternoon at Alexandre Stadium.

Avery Byard (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) led the Presidents' offense with a career-high five goals.
Brynne Stewart (Painesville, Ohio/Andrews Osborne Academy) and
Mya Bolinda (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) tallied a game-high seven points each on the day.
Ella Holland (Healdsburg, Calif./Cardinal Newman) provided offensive support from the midfield with three goals and three assists.
Bekah Meiklejohn (Boonsboro, Md./Boonsboro) posted a well-balanced line of statistics with two goals, three assists, a game-high four ground balls, two caused turnovers, and four draw controls.
Josie Ungaro (Oreland, Pa./Upper Dublin) led the team in caused turnovers with three.

In the first quarter of play, W&J outscored Geneva 9-0 with goals from Bogats, Stewart, Holland, Byard, and
Anna Kloehn (Canton, Ohio/Jackson) who closed out the scoring in the quarter.

Geneva scored the first two goals of the second quarter, but W&J responded with five unanswered goals before the half to hold a 14-2 lead at the break.

Ungaro,
Sammy Hartz (Ijamsville, Md./Oakdale), and
Sarah Brown (Denton, Md./North Caroline) each picked up their first goals of the year in the third quarter, helping W&J boost its lead to 18-3.

The Presidents were responsible for each of the five goals scored in the final 15 minutes of play, including a goal scored by
Brianna Nader (Cochranton, Pa./Conneaut Area). The sophomore's first score of the season added on as W&J took the double figure victory, 23-3.

The Presidents held advantages in ground balls (18-8), draw controls (20-7), and caused turnovers (17-12).

Madison Hecker (Canfield, Ohio/Canfield) and
Megan Brackney (Latrobe, Pa./Greater Latrobe) each logged 30 minutes in goal for W&J. Hecker was credited with the win, while Brackey earned the lone save of the day.

Women's lacrosse returns to action on Saturday in New Wilmington to take on the Westminster Titans. The league contest is set for 1:00 p.m. at the UPMC Sports Complex.
