Anderson, DeSanto Set Program Records on Final Day of PAC Outdoor Championships

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – The Washington & Jefferson College track & field teams wrapped the 2026 Presidents' Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships. Both the men's and women's teams finished in fourth place.
 
Claire Anderson (Jamestown, Pa./Jamestown) kicked off the day by breaking her previous school record in the 5,000-meter run. Anderson raced to a new personal-best time of 16:33.88 to win her second individual conference title. The time currently ranks 10th in division III in the 5k.
 
Sarah Schneider (Warren, Ohio/Lordstown) led the W&J women in the 100-meter hurdles, claiming a conference title in the finals with a time of 14.94. Schneider finished fifth in the long jump with a top leap of 5.05 meters (16' 7"). The senior also finished sixth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.90.
 
Lainey Hartner (Washington, Pa./Fort Cherry) picked up her first career individual PAC title in the 400-meter hurdles. The sophomore sprinter raced to a personal-best time of 1:06.04 to win the event.
 
Maria Gilles (North Ridgeville, Ohio/Lake Ridge Academy) and Marina Grado (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) both logged personal-best finishes on the night as well in their respective events. Gilles registered her new career best time of 2:19.90 in the 800-meter run. Gilles also placed third in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:40.98. Grado raced to her new personal-best time of 1:01.32 in the 400-meter dash.
 
Katie Kovalchick (Shelocta, Pa./Indiana Area) led the women in the throwing events, headlining her day with a fourth-place finish in the shot put. Kovalchick's top toss of 11.47 meters (37' 7.75") placed her fourth in the shot put. The junior thrower also finished 18th in the discus throw with a heave of 29.37 meters (96' 4").
 
Nick DeSanto (Erie, Pa./McDowell) led the W&J men, breaking his previous school record in the high jump. The junior reached a height of 1.99 meters (6' 6.25") to set the new W&J record and take second place. DeSanto also finished sixth in the long jump with a distance of 6.45 meters (21' 2").
 
Anand Karamcheti (Washington, Pa./Washington) took third place in the 800-meter run with a personal-best time of 1:57.23. Colin Dusman also reached a personal-best finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 58.00 to finish sixth.
 
Anthony Cestaro III (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers) led the W&J sprinters in Morgantown. Cestaro III raced to a third-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.01. He also raced to a sixth-place mark in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.14.
 
Dominic Flitcraft (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell) and Wyatt Stroup (Port Royal, Pa./Juniata) each finished second in their distance events. Stroup finished second in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:03.55. Flitcraft took second in the 5,000-meter run with a mark of 15:60.50.
 
The Track & Field teams are scheduled to resume competition at final qualifier meets, beginning at the Harrison Dillard Twilight hosted by Baldwin Wallace. Action is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m. on Friday (May 8).
