GREENWOOD, Ind. -- Three Washington & Jefferson College student-athletes gained spots on the 2026 Academic All-District® Men's At-Large Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, which recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom.
The at-large category includes student-athletes whose sports aren't in separate categories during the school year. The list of sports that represented W&J includes golf, water polo and wrestling.
The six representatives to make the list were
William Ainsworth (Woldingham, Surrey/Reigate Grammar School),
Timothy Deutsch (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton) and
Matthew Morelli (New Castle, Pa./Neshannock).
Ainsworth and Morelli each finished as the top contributors for the W&J men's golf program this past season, each collecting their first CSC Academic All-District nods. Both golfers finished in a tie for fifth place, earning both Presidents an All-PAC First Team selection following the 2026 Presidents' Athletic Conference Spring Championships. The golfers shot a 300 through all four rounds. Ainsworth made the jump to the top five following a score of 73 in round three in the spring. In the classroom, each student-athlete has accumulated a 3.75 GPA. Ainsworth majors in Mathematics and Economics while Morelli majors in Accounting.
Deutsch collects his first CSC Academic All-District honor following his 2025 campaign with the W&J men's water polo team. The junior captain was named to the MPSF/6-8 Sports Men's Water Polo All-Academic Team. Deutsch played in all three Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships games, helping the Presidents finish 1-2 at the conference tournament. In the classroom, Deutsch has accumulated a 3.83 as an Accounting major.
The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
To be eligible for a CSC All-District nomination, student-athletes must have a 3.50 cumulative GPA or higher and be a sophomore, junior or senior. In addition, the student-athletes must make valuable contributions to their respective programs athletically.
