Presidents Dominate Geneva 91-47 for PAC Win

Box Score

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – An all-around dominating performance on the hardwood by the Washington & Jefferson women's basketball team produced an easy 91-47 Presidents' Athletic Conference win at Geneva Wednesday night.

The Presidents won their fourth game in a row and improve to 11-5 overall, 6-3 in the conference. Three of the five W&J starters combined for 43 points, including a game-high 18 from senior Chelsea Apke. Apke connected on 6-of-9 from the field and was nearly perfect from the free throw line, hitting 6-of-7. She fell one rebound shy of collecting her ninth double-double.

It was a strong night for the junior class as Alexa DelGreco added 13 points to the win, sinking two three-point attempts. DelGreco also dished out a team-best four assists, while Valerie Dunlap hit 6-of-10 from the field to finish with 12 points.

Tori Bishop rounded out the list of double-digit scorers, chipping in 10 points from the bench. Erin Lavery added an eight-point night during her first career start and sophomore Jamie Tedesco grabbed a career-best eight rebounds.

W&J dominated the first half, outscoring the Golden Tornadoes (1-14, 0-9 PAC) 49-15. The Presidents collectively shot nearly 46 percent from the field in the first half, and held Geneva to just 23 percent. The opposition was much improved in the second 20 minutes, sinking over 52 percent of their shots, but the early lead was too much to overcome.

The Presidents turned 18 Geneva turnovers into 27 points, and created 25 second-chance points by grabbing 19 offensive rebounds.

Washington & Jefferson returns to the Henry Memorial Center for a PAC contest against Westminster Saturday (Jan. 25) at 1:00 pm.
