Presidents Fall To Thomas More 80-58 in PAC Championship Game

Box Score CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. -- Top-seeded Thomas More won its eighth consecutive Presidents' Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Championship after defeating third-seeded Washington & Jefferson 80-58 Saturday at the Connor Convocation Center. 

The third-ranked Saints (28-0) earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.  W&J (20-8) will await word on a possible ECAC Division III Tournament bid on Monday. 

Thomas More led 45-27 at halftime and earned their second-straight championship game win over the Presidents by forcing 23 turnovers (22 points off TOs).  Sydney Moss, the PAC Player of the Year, had 29 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists for the Saints. Chelsea Apke paced W&J with 21 points and nine rebounds. 

Sydni Westcott opened the scoring with a three-pointer 12 seconds in and Thomas More never trailed after building a 6-1 lead a minute later. 

Beka Bellhy made a jump shot at the 15:57 mark and W&J closed to within 11-7, but the Saints strung together a 10-2 run which pushed the lead to double digits.  An 11-0 spurt later in the first half made it a 38-19 game and the Saints were on their way to another title. 

An Apke three-point play six minutes into the second half narrowed W&J's deficit to 54-41, but a three-pointer by Stephanie Krusling two minutes later upped the TMC advantage back to 21 points.  Thomas More shot 52 percent and made 8-of-21 three-point shots. 

Bellhy totaled 12 points, seven rebounds and three assists for the Presidents, who shot 44 percent (20-45).  Alexa DelGreco (9) and Alexa Burzese (8) also nearly reached double figures.
