Box Score FREDRICK, Md. -- Hood (Md.) ran out to an eight-goal halftime lead and cruised past Washington & Jefferson 9-1 in women's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon at Thomas Athletic Field. The game marked the debut of W&J's
Alison Valerio, the third head coach in Presidents women's lacrosse history.Â
The Blazers (2-0) scored twice in the first three minutes before W&J notched its first goal of the season at the 21:42 mark by
Diana Harvey. However, Hood dominated from that point with seven unanswered goals in the final 19:36 of the half. Two of the Hood goals were netted by Ashley Kitzmiller.
Hood extended its lead to 14-1 midway through the second half before W&J closed with two goals from Harvey and another from
Alex Dikos.Â
Harvey had a hand in all four W&J goals with three tallies and one assist. Kesley Roetenberg suffered the loss in goal after making nine saves.Â
The Blazers, which outshot W&J by a 31-20 margin, received four goals from Kitzmiller. Lauren Couch made 10 saves in goal.Â
The Presidents will be back in action Wednesday night at Allegheny (6:00 pm).Â
