Win streak extends to four for Presidents' softball

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 CLERMONT, Fla. -- Madison Rotto and Emily Watson both earned pitching victories as the Washington & Jefferson College softball team's win streak reached four games Wednesday after victories over UMASS-Boston (8-1) and FDU-Florham (4-1) at the National Training Center. 

The Presidents (4-2) scored five times in the bottom of the first inning against UMASS-Boston as Abby Cunningham, Jen Bahm and Chalese Wilson all provided RBI singles. 

Bahm singled home a pair of runs in the fifth inning for a 7-1 advantage and Watson capped the scoring with a bases-loaded single in the sixth. 

Rotto did not walk a batter in six innings, struck out four batters and allowed seven hits, six of which were singles.  Bethany Shepherd pitched a scoreless seventh to close the win. 

Bahm went 2-for-3 with three RBI to lead the lineup, while Rotto and Abby Cunningham both had two hits and scored twice.  Kelsey Cunningham scored a pair of runs. 

Watson pitched five innings in the second contest and Krista McCartney fired the final two innings for the save.  Courtney Roperti went 2-for-4 at the plate, including a double, while Kelsey Cunningham also doubled during the victory. 

The Presidents wrap up their spring break trip to Florida Thursday with games against Dubuque (8:00 am) and Utica (10:00 am).
