Gators Handle Presidents 20-8 in Meadville

Box Score MEADVILLE, Pa. -- Washington & Jefferson scored twice in the first three minutes, but Allegheny roared back with 14 of the next 16 goals and the Gators recorded a 20-8 women's lacrosse victory over the Presidents on Thursday night at Frank B. Fuhrer Field.

The Gators (3-0) received five goals and five assists from Makenzie Bell and outshot the Presidents (0-2) by a 53-15 margin.

Alex Dikos opened the scoring 59 seconds in for a 1-0 Presidents' lead and Diana Harvey followed 68 seconds later for a 2-0 advantage.  Allegheny followed with four goals in a span of three minutes, but W&J closed to within 4-3 on an Ashley Bulger tally at the 18:24 mark off a feed from Dikos.

W&J trailed 5-4 with just over seven minutes left in the first half, but the Gators rolled off six consecutive goals to end the half and take an 11-4 lead into the break.  The Gators scored the first three goals of the second half in a span of 40 seconds to grow their lead to 14-4.

Dikos and Harvey netted the next two goals to bring the deficit back to eight (14-6), but that was as close as the visitors would get.

Dikos and Bulger both supplied hat tricks for the Presidents, while Harvey scored twice and set up two others.  Harvey and Dikos both notched five draw controls and Dikos was 3-of-4 on free-position shots.  Kelsey Roetenberg made 16 saves in the loss in goal.

Kaelin Clogan collected the win in the net for the Gators after making four saves.

W&J is idle for two weeks before returning to action on March 22 at Kenyon (2:00 pm).
