MACALESTER, Minn. -- Washington & Jefferson recorded Saturday victories over Penn State-Behrend (9-1) and Carthage (10-5) to advance to the CWPA Division III Conference Tournament championship match at Macalester College.
The Presidents (17-7) extended their school-record win streak to 10 matches. Second-seeded W&J will face top-seeded Connecticut College Sunday in the conference championship match at 1:00 pm. The winner earns an automatic bid to the CWPA Championship (April 25-27 at Bucknell)
Against the Lions,
Margot Wummer fired in three goals to lead the offense, while
Morgan Kinyon paced the defense with 10 saves.
Sara Boldt netted a pair of goals, while
Aly Fishbough,
Allison Rocha,
Laura Travers and
Brittany Patterson all added one.
Rachel Clauss produced four goals against third-seeded Carthage, while
Laura Travers netted two. Wummer, Patterson, Rocha and
Catherine Villa all found the back of the net once.
Ally Hopkins stood strong in goal with eight saves.
The Presidents and Camels split their regular-season series (CC 12-9 win on Mar. 15; W&J 4-3 win on Mar. 20).
