Washington & Jefferson falls at Carnegie Mellon, 2-1

PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision at Carnegie Mellon in non-conference play.

With the loss, the Presidents fall to 2-4 on the season, while the Tartans climb above .500 at 4-3.

The hosts scored less than five minutes into the game on a goal by Dimitrije Slavkovic, who brought the ball down off his chest and finished high.

Connor Webb added his fourth goal of the season for an insurance goal for the hosts in the 58th minute as CMU took a 2-0 lead. Less than two minutes later, James Calvert added a penalty kick goal to get W&J on the board, but the Presidents were unable to even the score.

CMU led in shots, 13-6. Calvert recorded four of W&J's shots.

Jon Best took the loss in goal, making five saves in 90 minutes.

The Presidents return to Alexandre Stadium on Wednesday, Sept. 24 for a 5 p.m. start against Franciscan.
