ERIE, Pa. -- The Presidents split a pair of matches in Erie, Pa., dropping to Division II Mercyhurst, 14-11, before rebounding for a 10-1 win over Penn State Behrend.
With the split, the Washington & Jefferson women's water polo team moves to 5-4 on the season, but maintains a perfect 4-0 mark in Collegiate Water Polo Association play. The Presidents are the 10th ranked team in Division III according to the CWPA poll.
In the opener against the Lakers,
Sara Boldt paced the red and black with four goals, while
Laura Travers added three. Four different Presidents notched one goal in the loss.
Ally Hopkins made six saves and
Morgan Kinyon contributed three stops in the Mercyhurst match.
Travers was one of three Presidents with multiple goals against Behrend, as she,
Allison Rocha and
Alexandra Gartner each scored twice.
Both of the W&J goalkeepers made three saves in the win over the Lions.
The Presidents will head west for their next games, beginning with four in California, including an 11 a.m. (2 p.m. eastern), contest against Redlands on Saturday, March 14.
