The Washington & Jefferson women's water polo team took an early lead, capturing a 5-1 win over Penn State Behrend after four goals in the first quarter. The victory moves the Presidents' record to 14-5 while finishing the season unbeaten in the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) with a record of 14-0.
Brittney Patterson opened scoring with a goal at 7:16 in the first. At 6:13,
Rachel Clauss moved the score to 2-0 with
Sarah Latzo notching one of her own less than a minute later (5:27).
Liz Klock posted her first of the game to put the Presidents up 4-0 at the end of the first period.
Penn State Behrend posted the lone goal in the second period, but it was not enough as Klock put a pair on the match in the third quarter and
Ally Hopkins and the Presidents kept the Lions scoreless for the remainder of the game.
W&J will travel to New London, Conn. to compete as the first seed in the CWPA Division III Championship, April 16-17.
