WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson women's water polo team defeated Connecticut College, 12-4, in its final game of the Collegiate Water Polo Association Division III Regional on Sunday afternoon, April 9.
The win improves the Presidents to 15-4 overall on the season, including a 13-1 record in CWPA games.
The Presidents scored the first four goals of the game, three coming from
Liz Klock (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central), to gain the early advantage over the Camels. Both teams exchanged three goals each, giving the Presidents a 7-3 halftime lead, before the Presidents scored five of the final six goals in the game to put Connecticut College away.
Klock scored six times in the game to lead the Presidents' offense while
Lexie Gartner (West Lawn, Pa./Wilson) and
Madison Nervig (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) both scored twice. Rounding out the W&J scoring in the game was
Sarah Latzo (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria) and
Tess O'Neill (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) who both scored one goal.
The top-seeded Presidents will get back in the pool on Saturday, April 22, when they will face eighth-seeded Utica at 10:20 a.m. in the first round of the CWPA Division III Championships hosted by Macalester College in St. Paul, Minn.
