GILBERT, Ariz. -- Washington & Jefferson field hockey's Rachel Buyan (Huntington Beach, Calif./Edison), Alana Boyd (Alexandria, Va./Thomas Edison) and Rena Israel (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) all earned spots on the Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-North Atlantic Region team.

Today's recognition marks the third time that Buyan has made a Longstreth/NFHCA All-North Atlantic Region team, her second consecutive season as a First Teamer. Boyd and Israel, on the other hand, take home this honor for the first time in their careers, with Boyd making the First Team and Israel being named to the Second Team.

Buyan, a four-time All-Empire 8 selection and the 2018 E8 Player of the Year, had one of her best seasons to date in 2018. The senior paced the Presidents with 36 points and a career-high tying 16 goals, both of which ranked fourth in the conference. By the end of the season, Buyan cemented herself as one of the greatest players to ever don the Red & Black, as she climbed towards the top of some of the program's career leaderboards. Her 49 career goals are the second most in W&J history, while her 117 points rank third. She is also tied for fifth among the Presidents' all-time assists leaders with 19.

Boyd, who joined Buyan on the All-E8 First Team, also had a career season to close out her collegiate tenure. The senior posted career highs with 26 points and 11 goals, ranking second on the team in both categories. In the E8, Boyd ranked fourth in shots (91) and tied for ninth in goals. She ends her career with 23 career goals, which are tied for 10th on the program's all-time leaderboard.

On the other side of the field, Israel was fantastic in her first season in charge of the W&J defense. The sophomore, who also made the All-E8 First Team, was one of the stingiest goalkeepers in all of Division III this season, ranking first in the nation in both save percentage (.909) and goals-against average (0.28). For the year, Israel posted a 16-2 record, allowed a whopping five goals and tallied 14 shutouts. In recognition of her play, she received E8 Defensive Player of the Week laurels three times.

The 2018 campaign was a historic one for the Presidents, as they won a program-record 18 games and picked up their first-ever victory in the NCAA Tournament. The Red & Black defeated Rhodes, 3-0, in the first round on Wednesday, Nov. 7, at Cameron Stadium. W&J's season came to a close with a heart-breaking 1-0 overtime defeat at No. 6 Salisbury in the NCAA Tournament Second Round.
