How It Happened: The Washington & Jefferson College women's water polo team dropped a 14-5 decision to Wittenberg University in the opening match of the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Championship Tournament Friday afternoon.
Wittenberg never trailed in the contest as they built a 3-1 lead after the first before opening up a 9-2 advantage at halftime. The Tigers outscored the Presidents by a 5-3 margin during the second half to secure the victory.

Paige Adams (Mohnton, Pa./Governor Mifflin) led W&J with a team-best three goals.
The Rest:
Cecelia Weiss (Mohnton, Pa./Governor Mifflin) registered seven saves in goal for W&J.
Marissa Whitby (Los Angeles, Calif./Eagle Rock) and
Emma Rearson (Dresher, Pa./Upper Dublin) chipped in a goal apiece for the Presidents.
What's Next: The loss puts W&J at 4-12 overall while Wittenberg improves its record to 7-11.
The game marked the third of the season between Washington & Jefferson and Wittenberg as the Presidents previously claimed a 13-11 victory on February 24 at home in Washington, Pa., while the Tigers collected a 13-8 victory at home in Springfield, Ohio.
The Presidents will return to action by participating in the consolation round at the CWPA Championships on Saturday, April 13 at 10 a.m. W&J will challenge the loser of Friday afternoon's matchup between third-seeded Austin College and sixth-seeded Penn State Behrend.
