YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Washington & Jefferson track & field team opened their 2021-22 indoor season Friday at the Youngstown State Icebreaker. The indoor meet was the first in 645 days for the Presidents due to COVID-19, which caused the cancellation of last year's indoor season. The highly competitive meet featured several Division I & Division II schools.
Women
Faith Remich (New Kensington, Pa./Burrell) started the Presidents off strong in the first event of the afternoon. Remich finished in 13th place in the 5000 meters with a career-best time of 20:11.50.
Savannah Sevacko (Crafton, Pa./Carlynton) kicked off her sophomore campaign by securing 17th place in the triple jump with her jump of 10.31 meters and 15th in the long jump with her jump of 5.09 meters.
Bre Trusler (Daisytown, Pa./California) finished in the top half of the competition in the 400 meters with her time of 63.66. Trusler also competed in the 200 meters, clocking in a time of 28.45.
Jadyn Hartner (Washington, Pa./Fort Cherry) came across in 65.50 in the 400. Hartner also competed in the Long Jump and finished with a mark of 4.80 meters.
Men
Nate Sciarro (Beaver Falls, Pa./Riverside) kicked off his collegiate indoor track & field season by placing the best among all PAC competitors in the long jump. With his jump of 6.75 meters he was able to secure 15th place for the Red & Black.
Declan Fricko (New Bethlehem, Pa./Redbank Valley) notched the highest place for W&J of the afternoon. Fricko earned 11th place with his jump of 1.80 meters in the high jump.
Julian Paul (Pittsburgh, Pa./Montour) performed well in the 800 meters, as he posted a time of 2:03.97.
Max Donaty (Westborough, Mass./Westborough) recorded a time of 16:51.81 to secure 14th place in the 5000 meters.
Clay Yeager (Mifflintown, Pa./Juniata) finished in 16th place in the men 3000 meters with his time of 9:48.16. Yeager was beat by only one other PAC competitor.
The Presidents will be back in action on January 15 at the WVU Marty Pushkin Open. The meet is slated to start at 11 A.M.
