BEAVER FALLS, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College track and field teams turned in solid performances at the Golden Tornado Classic hosted by Geneva College on Saturday.
The W&J women finished third out of seven teams with a score of 86. The President men took fourth of seven teams with a score of 79.
Women
Bre Trusler (Daisytown, Pa./California) secured a first place finish in the 400 Meters. The sophomore clocked in with a time of 1:02.05 to edge the runner-up (1:02.82) in the event. Trusler later finished third in the 200 Meters, timing in at 28.68.
Faith Remich (New Kensington, Pa./Burrell) placed second in the 1500 Meters, as the junior posted a time of 5:12.79.
Savannah Sevacko (Crafton, Pa./Carlynton) tied for second in the long jump with a leap of 4.74 meters and seventh in the high jump (1.37 meters)
Jadyn Hartner (Washington, Pa./Fort Cherry) finished third in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:10.01 and placed fifth in the High Jump (1.47 meters) and finished seventh in the long jump at 4.67 meters.
W&J placed four in the top eight of the High Jump.
Alie Seto (Allison, Pa./Brownsville) led the way as she finished in third place (1.47 meters). Hartner was fifth while Sevacko was seventh and
Ali Petrisek (Ellsworth, Pa./Bentworth) finished eighth.
Cassie Carr (Girard, Pa./Girard) ran to a fourth place finish in the 5000 Meters. Carr posted a time of 19:27.80.
Naomi Hanna (New Kensington, Pa./Burrell) took fourth in the Shot Put. The junior registered a toss of 10.38 meters in the event.
Anna Stroup (Port Royal, Pa./Juniata) finished fifth in the 100 Meter Hurdles. The freshman clocked in with a time of 17.74.
Mackenzie Stevenson (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) logged a time of 2:55.57 to finish seventh in the 800 Meters.
W&J's 4x400 Relay group of
Grace Kirwin (Philadelphia, Pa./Abington), Hartner, Remich and Trusler finished second in 4:18.82.
Men
Aden Dressler (Evans City, Pa./Butler) was the champion in the 800 Meters. The sophomore broke the tape with a time of 2:01.66. Teammates
Clay Yeager (Mifflintown, Pa./Juniata) and
Nathan Millison (Salem, Ohio/South Range) finished fourth and sixth in the event, respectively.
Declan Fricko (New Bethlehem, Pa./Redbank Valley) added a first place effort for the Presidents. His leap of 1.80 meters won the High Jump. He added a fourth place showing in the Triple Jump (11.56 meters).
Chase Grinnell (Fombell, Pa./Riverside) finished as the runner-up in the 1500 Meter Run. The freshman posted a time of 4:25.55.
Ian Baughman (Oxford, Pa./Oxford Area) placed second in the 110-meter hurdles. The newcomer clocked in with a time of 16.52. Baughman later checked in with a third place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 58.01.
In the Long Jump, freshman
Nate Sciarro (Beaver Falls, Pa./Riverside) placed second with a mark of 6.50 meters.
Justin Huss (Derry, Pa./Derry) took sixth in the 200 (23.60) and
Jack Ryan (Lower Burrell, Pa./Burrell) was seventh in the 100 (11.90).
W&J's 4x400 Relay group of
Sam Garber (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne), Dressler, Baughman and Yeager finished less than three seconds behind meet champs Thiel at 3:37.35.
