NEW CONCORD, Ohio – Several top finishes highlighted the day for the Washington & Jefferson College indoor track & field team as it took part in the Muskie Pride Meet which was hosted by Muskingum University.
The W&J men finished as the runner-up in the team standings with 111 points. The Presidents finished in sixth place amongst eight teams on the women's ledger with 56 team points.
Men's Recap
Nate Sciarro (Beaver Falls, Pa./Riverside) won the long jump with a mark of 6.89 meters.
Paul Collier (Heath, Ohio/Heath) finished in the top spot in the 5K event. Collier logged a time of 17:24.55.
Julian Paul (Pittsburgh, Pa./Montour) turned in a pair of strong performances. Paul crossed the finish line first in the 600 meters with a school record time of 1:26.17. Paul added a second place effort in the 800 meters at 2:02.50.
Brock Pennington (North East, Pa./North East) was second in the 600 meters (1:27.15) and finished third in the 800 (2:03.36) in the 800.
Jake Sinclair (Beallsville, Pa./Beth-Center) was fourth in the 800 (2:03.38) and fifth in the 3K (9:19.84).
Ian Baughman (Oxford, Pa./Oxford) was third in the 600 (1:27.98) and seventh in the 500 meters (72.905).
Riley Runyon (Jamestown, Pa. / Jamestown) placed fifth in the 600 with a time of 1:29.64 in his W&J debut.
Aden Dressler (Evans City, Pa./Butler) finished fourth in the 1000 (2:51.35) and sixth in the 3K with a time of 9:27.65.
In the Triple Jump,
Andrew Bauer (Johnstown, Pa. / Richland),
Alex Maslo (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Allegheny) and
Hayden O'Bryon (Irwin, Pa. / Norwin) finished sixth, seventh and eighth, respectively.
Carson Chamberlain (Derry, Pa. / Derry) had a personal-best toss of 10.34 meters in the Shot Put.
The men's 4x200 relay team of Baughman, Runyon, Sciarro and
Anthony Cestaro III (Memphis, Tenn. / Christian Brothers) finished fourth with a time of 1:36.99. That time is seventh on the W&J all-time performance list.
Cestaro added a fourth place finish in the 60 (7.25) and the 200 (24.14). His time in the 60 ranks seventh best on the W&J all-time list.
Daniel Deal (Butler, Pa. / Knoch) finished third in the 1000 with a time of 2:46.61. That mark ranks sixth all-time at W&J.
Women's Recap
Cassie Carr (Girard, Pa./Girard) won the 5K with a time of 19:18.30. Carr also placed sixth in the 6K with a time of 10:45.63. Both times are personal bests in indoor competition. Carr is third all-time on the 5K list and fourth all-time in the 3K list.
Claire Anderson (Jamestown, Pa. / Jamestown) was the runner-up in the 1000. She posted a time of 3:19.53 in the event. She ranks third all-time for W&J in the event.
Chloe LoCastro (Venetia, Pa. / Peters Township) finished third in the 1000 and ranks ninth all time.
Ava Taylor (Glenshaw, Pa. / Oakland Catholic) was second in the 600 with a time of 2:01, which ranks fourth all time at W&J.
Sarah Marshall (North Wales, Pa. / North Penn) was third in the event.
Jadyn Hartner (Washington, Pa./Fort Cherry) secured a third place finish in the 400 meters with an indoor personal record of 1:05.33.
Maria Gilles (North Ridgeville, Ohio / Lake Ridge Academy) was fourth in the 1000 at 3:36.81.
Anna Stroup (Port Royal, Pa. / Juniata) logged a pair of eighth place finishes. She ran to a time of 8.35 in the 60 meters and was 29.13 in the 200 meters.
Bre Trusler (Daisytown, Pa./California) was seventh in the 500 meters at 1:33.06.
W&J went for a fourth place finish in the 4x400 relay event. The group consisted of Carr, Taylor, Trusler and Hartner with a time of 4:37.79.
