GENEVA, Ohio -- The Washington & Jefferson indoor track & field team broke three more school records Saturday during the day of competition at the Collegiate Indoor Games hosted at the SPIRE Institute in Ohio.
Cassie Carr (Girard, Pa./Girard) broke a school record for a third consecutive weekend. This time Carr established a new school standard in the Mile. Carr posted a time of 5:09.98 to finish eighth in the 57-runner field. Carr previously set school records in the 1000 Meters two weeks ago and the 3K last weekend.
Julian Paul (Pittsburgh, Pa./Montour) raced to a school-record time of 1:55.22 in the 800 meters. The mark bettered his previous personal-best time by nearly four seconds. He finished fourth in a 57-runner field in the event Saturday.
The W&J 4x400 relay team of Anthony Cestaro III (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers), Paul,
Riley Runyon (Jamestown, Pa. / Jamestown) and
Ian Baughman (Oxford, Pa. / Oxford Area) raced to a time of 3:26.96. That time eclipsed the previous school record in the event by two seconds.
Jake Sinclair (Beallsville, Pa./Beth-Center) logged a time of 4:19.49 in the Mile. That time ranks as second best in W&J indoor history. The only other President to break 4:20 in the Mile is former W&J standout Harley Moyer.
Cestaro III ran 7.19 in the 60-meter prelims and logged a time of 22.71 in the 200 Meters. Baughman matched with personal-best time of 8.59 in the 60-hurdles, which is best in the PAC this season. He finished at 50.73 in the 400 meters, which is a personal best and second in school history.
Aden Dressler (Evans City, Pa./Butler) posted collegiate personal-bests in the Mile (4:29.84) and the 3K (8:56.27).
Raine Gratzmiller (Butler, Pa./Butler) registered a time of 2:01.20 in the 800.
Karson Kline (Clearfield, Pa./Clearfield) timed in at 7.36 in the 60 and 23.98 in the 200 meters. Both are personal bests for Kline.
Nate Sciarro (Beaver Falls, Pa./Riverside) finished sixth in the Long Jump and eighth in the Triple Jump. He ranks first and second among PAC competitors this season, respectively, in those events.
Declan Fricko (New Bethlehem, Pa. / Redbank Valley) tied his season best in the High Jump with a mark of 1.80 meters, which ranks tied for fourth in the conference this season.
Maria Gilles (North Ridgeville, Ohio / Lake Ridge Academy) and
Chloe LoCastro (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) both ran personal-best times in the Mile. Gilles at 5:32.01 and LoCastro at 5:43.53. Gilles (5th) and LoCastro (10th) join Carr (1st) as Top 10 program times in the Mile.
Bre Trusler (Daisytown, Pa./California) logged season best times of 1:02.31 in the 400 and 27.83 in the 200.
Anna Stroup (Port Royal, Pa. / Juniata) finished 13th in the 60-hurdles at 9.73 and a season-best 28.06 in the 200 meters.
W&J travels to the Muskingum Tune-Up on Friday, Feb. 17. The meet is the last one prior to the upcoming PAC Championships.
