WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – Due to high winds and storms, the West Liberty University Invitational was abbreviated and unable to be finished Saturday in West Virginia.
Women
Cassie Carr (Girard, Pa./Girard) finished first in the 3000-meter Steeplechase. Carr logged a time of 12:24.64 in her first time ever competing in the event. The time ranks third best in the PAC this season and third best all-time at W&J.
Claire Anderson (Jamestown, Pa./Jamestown) raced to a first-place finish in the 10K. The first-year President crossed the line first with a time of 39:14.91, which ranks second best all time at W&J and second currently this year in the PAC. This was the first time Anderson competed in the event collegiately.
Anna Stroup (Port Royal, Pa./Juniata) recorded the top time in the prelims of the 100 Hurdles at 16.95. Stroup was also eighth in the prelims of the 100 Meters (13.63).
Maria Gilles (North Ridgeville, Ohio / Lake Ridge Academy) finished third in the 1500 Meters by logging a time of 5:25.10.
Chloe LoCastro (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) finished eighth in the 1500.
Sarah Schneider (Warren, Ohio / Lordstown) and
Jadyn Hartner (Washington, Pa./Fort Cherry) posted marks of 4.65 meters and 4.62 meters, respectively, in the Long Jump. Scheider was also sixth in the prelims of 100 Hurdles (17.94).
Men
W&J was well-represented in the 10K, as four members of the team finished among the top six. Leading that group was
Brock Pennington (North East, Pa./North East), who posted a time of 34:36.7 to finish third.
Julian Paul (Pittsburgh, Pa./Montour) finished fourth (34:50.83),
Jake Sinclair (Beallsville, Pa./Beth Center) was fifth (34:55.72) and
Aden Dressler (Evans City, Pa./Butler) finished sixth at 35:18.38.
Max Donaty (Westborough, Mass. / Westborough) ran to a third-place finish in the 3000-Meter Steeplechase. Donaty posted a time of 11:32.81 in the event.
Anthony Cestaro III (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers) was sixth in the prelims of 100 meters with a time of 11.77.
Karson Kline (Clearfield, Pa./Clearfield) was eighth in the prelims 110-meter hurdles with a time of 17.65.
W&J will return to competition on Wednesday, April 5 at the Grove City College Invitational.
