WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson College outdoor track & field teams had a busy weekend. The Presidents competed both Saturday and Sunday at the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic. In addition, several team members competed Saturday at the Thiel Invitational.
Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic
Claire Anderson (Jamestown, Pa./Jamestown) set two new school records at the Bison Classic. Anderson clocked in with a time of 4:36.87 in the 1500 Meters. That time beats her own PAC and school record. Anderson then broke
Faith Remich's school record in the 800 Meters. Anderson timed in at 2:17.78 to take the top spot in program history.
Cassie Carr (Girard, Pa./Girard) finished eighth in a field of 69 runners in the 3K. Carr logged a time of 10:19.37 to top her own school record. Carr also established a new personal-best time of 4:45.30 in the 1500 Meters. Her time in the 1500 ranks second all time and fourth in the PAC.
Anna Stroup (Port Royal, Pa./Juniata) ran to a season-best time of 13.22 in the 100 meters and had a 15.95 in the 100 hurdles.
Aden Dressler (Evans City, Pa./Butler) beat his own school record with a time of 9:47.35 in the Steeplechase.
Julian Paul (Pittsburgh, Pa./Montour) finished with a new personal-best time of 4:03.52 in the 1500 Meters.
Jake Sinclair (Beallsville, Pa./Beth Center) also competed in the 1500 Meters with a time of 4:14.62.
Brock Pennington (North East, Pa./North East) logged a time of 15:49.08 in the 5K.
W&J had five runners compete in the 800 Meters. Leading the way was Paul with a school-record time of 1:54.72.
Riley Runyon (Jamestown, Pa./Jamestown), Pennington and Dressler all ran to personal-best times. Runyon came in at 1:58.21 while Pennington finished in 1:59.14 and Dressler had a time of 1:59.75. Sinclair posted a season-best time of 1:59.90 in the event.
Anthony Cestaro III (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers) posted a new personal-best in the 100 Meters. The freshman logged a time of 11.12, which ranks third best in the PAC this season and sixth on the all-time list at W&J. Cestaro posted a personal-best time of 22.37 in the 200 Meters, which ranks him third in W&J history and second in the PAC this season.
Ian Baughman (Oxford, Pa./Oxford Area) posted a time of 54.91 in the 400 hurdles, which ranks 30th in NCAA D-III. Earlier in the day, he had a time of 15.32 in the 110 hurdles. The time in the 110 ranks second in the PAC and fourth in the region.
The Men's 4x400 (Cestaro, Paul, Runyon, Baughman) runs a time of 3:28.37, which is a season-best time and ranks second in the PAC this year.
Thiel Invitational – Women
Nate Sciarro (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk) and
Declan Fricko (New Bethlehem, Pa./Redback Valley) finished second and third, respectively, in the High Jump. Sciarro reached 1.85 meters while Fricko came in at 1.80 meters.
Sciarro was also second in the Long Jump with a mark of 6.89 meters.
Karson Kline (Clearfield, Pa./Clearfield) finished seventh in the 110-meter hurdles. Kline registered a time of 16.75 meters. Kline was sixth in the 400 Hurdles with a time of 1:01.30.
Raine Gratzmiller (Butler, Pa./Butler) logged a time of 2:04.91 in the 800 Meters.
Jadyn Hartner (Washington, Pa./Fort Cherry) was fourth in the 400 Hurdles at 1:08.13 and eighth in the Long Jump with a mark of 4.85 meters.
Sarah Schneider (Warren, Ohio/Lordstown) was seventh in the 100-Meter Hurdles with a season-best time of 17.48.
Bre Trusler (Daisytown, Pa./California) placed third in the 400 Meters with a time of 1:01.15.
