NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson Outdoor Track & Field team posted several personal-best times, several season-best times and produced one individual champion during the day of competition Saturday at the Westminster College Invitational.
Women's Recap
Claire Anderson (Jamestown, Pa./Jamestown) recorded a pair of top five finishes with personal best times. Anderson was first in the 1500 Meters with a school-record time of 4:39.82. That time also ranks first in the region. Anderson added a fifth-place effort in the 800 Meters with a time of 2:22.39.
Cassie Carr (Girard, Pa./Girard) logged a fourth-place finish in the 1500 with a personal-best time of 4:47.37. Her time ranks second in the PAC only behind her teammate Anderson.
Bre Trusler (Daisytown, Pa./California) finished third in the 400 Meters. Trusler clocked in with a time of 1:02.73.
Anna Stroup (Port Royal, Pa./Juniata) registered a pair of top 10 finishes. Stroup was fourth in the 100 Hurdles with a personal-best time of 15.85 and ninth in the 400 Hurdles with a personal-best time of 1:14.71.
Jadyn Hartner (Washington, Pa./Fort Cherry) was fifth in the 400 Hurdles. Hartner posted a time of 1:09.37.
W&J had two runners in the top 10 of the 5K, as
Maria Gilles (North Ridgeville, Ohio/Lake Ridge Academy) finished at 20:11 and
Chloe LoCastro (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) came in at 21:11.
The Presidents' 4x400 team of Hartner, Anderson, Carr and Trusler finished third with a time of 4:17.20.
Gianna Platt (Pittsburgh, Pa./OLSH) had a season-best mark of 28.65 meters in the Javelin.
Men's Recap
Ian Baughman (Oxford, Pa./Oxford Area) produced a pair of top three finishes. Baughman raced to a time of 15.34 to finish second in the 110 Hurdles. Baughman was third in the 400 Hurdles with a time of 54.60. He currently ranks 13th in D-III and third in the region in the 400 Hurdles.
Anthony Cestaro III (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers) finished second in the 200 Meters (22.68) and eighth in the 100 Meters with a personal-best time of 11.47.
Aden Dressler (Evans City, Pa./Butler) was sixth in the 5K with a personal-best time of 15:35.75. His time ranks third all-time at W&J and leads the PAC.
Brock Pennington (North East, Pa./North East) and
Jake Sinclair (Beallsville, Pa./Beth Center) were seventh and eighth in the 3000-meter Steeplechase. The duo finished with times of 10:21.78 and 10.33.36, respectively. They currently rank sixth and eighth all-time at W&J.
Karson Kline (Clearfield, Pa./Clearfield) was ninth in the 110-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 16.44. Kline was 10th in the 400 Hurdles with a time of 1:00.31, which ranks sixth in the PAC.
Riley Runyon (Jamestown, Pa./Jamestown) finished ninth in the 400 Meters at 52.91.
Nate Sciarro (Beaver Falls, Pa./Riverside) was fifth in the Long Jump with a mark of 6.30 meters.
Declan Fricko (New Bethlehem, Pa./Redbank Valley) finished seventh in the High Jump at 1.80 meters, which ranks third in the PAC.
The W&J quartet of Runyon, Cestaro III, Dressler and Baughman raced to a season-best time of 3:30.68 to finish fourth in the 4x400 Relay.
