WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Washington & Jefferson College freshman
Andrew Platt (Men's Golf) and junior
Sofia Jenkins (Women's Lacrosse) were selected Washington Health System Student-Athletes of the Month for April 2023.
Each month's award winners are selected by a panel of athletic department staff, student life staff and faculty.
Platt earned a perfect 4.0 GPA during the fall semester. He was named Presidents' Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Year after finishing 8th at the PAC Championship last month. He also earned Second Team All-PAC status as he helped W&J to its 21st conference title in program history. He made par at final hole for W&J to clinch the PAC Championship. Additionally, he finished as medalist at the Rossin Memorial Tournament at Southpointe in April. The men's golf team has won four consecutive tournaments as they enter the NCAA Championships, which will be held later this month in Kentucky.
Jenkins, a team captain for the W&J women's lacrosse program, has a 3.90 cumulative GPA as a Communications Arts major. She leads the team and ranks second in the conference with 35 assists and ranks third on the squad in points (51). Jenkins has helped W&J to 12-straight wins, a NCAA regional ranking and the top seed in this week's PAC Championship Tournament. Jenkins earned All-PAC as a freshman in 2021 and is a two-time PAC All-Tournament Team choice. W&J hosts an opponent to be determined on Thursday in the PAC semifinal round.
