CHESTER, Pa. -- Washington & Jefferson junior
Ian Baughman (Oxford, Pa./Oxford Area) made a jump towards the cut line for the upcoming NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships with his showing Monday at the Widener University Final Qualifier in Eastern Pennsylvania.
Baughman raced to a time of 53.36 in the 400-Meter Hurdles, which improves his school record time by half a second. The time moves Baughman up to 24th on the NCAA Division III list in the event. The top 22 declared entries qualify for the upcoming Division III Championships, which will be held at Saint John Fisher University in Rochester, N.Y. from May 25-27. Baughman will get one more shot to improve his time when he competes Thursday, May 18 at Mount Union.
Claire Anderson (Jamestown, Pa./Jamestown) competed Monday in the 5K at Widener. The freshman logged a collegiate-best time of 17:52.25 in the event.
Julian Paul (Pittsburgh, Pa./Montour) put together another strong effort in the 800 Meters. The sophomore raced to a time of 1:55.17 in the event.
Brock Pennington (North East, Pa./North East) concluded the night by competing in the 5K. Pennington posted a personal-best time of 15:08.46 in the event.
