WASHINGTON, Pa. – Washington & Jefferson College swimming & Diving wrapped action at the Malone Invitational with a historic spin. The men remained in seventh while the women held strong at 11
th.
Standout swimmer
Logan Marks (West Mifflin, Pa./West Mifflin) led the W&J men's team with another historic page added to his resume. Marks broke his previously owned record in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:03.87 to place second. Marks set his previous W&J record last season at the Presidents' Athletic Conference championship with a time of 2:04.25 in the 200 breast.
Melvin McRae (Lillington, N.C./Overhills) finished the weekend with a second-place mark in the 3-meter dive and score of 261.55.
March Yuan (Simi Valley, Calif./Oak Park) concluded the three-day invite with a sixth-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:57.76.
Micah Lohr (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) followed close behind with a 13
th place ranking and mark of 2:06.56.
Freshman
Ethan Glessner (McKeesport, Pa./Elizabeth Forward) worked his way to ninth in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:59.01. Teammate
Nathaniel Harden (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield Area) capped off the weekend behind Marks in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:23.34.
Luna Balzano (El Portal, Fla./Broward Virtual School) headed the women's efforts on the final day at the Malone Invitational. Balzano raced to a sixth-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:18.05.
Maddie Malone (Charlottesville, Va./Monticello) continued her production in the 200-yard breaststroke with an eighth-place finish and time of 2:37.85.
Sophia Garrett (Cincinnati, Ohio/Saint Ursula Academy) logged a 14
th-place mark in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:18.66.
Senior distance swimmer
Taylor Newton (Olyphant, Pa./Scranton Prep) took 16
th in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 19:47.87 to wrap the top women's finishers.
Swimming & Diving hosts the W&J Diving Invite on Friday (Dec. 6) before traveling to Latrobe to face the Saint Vincent Bearcats the following day, Saturday (Dec. 7). The diving invite is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m.
