WASHINGTON, Pa. – Washington & Jefferson College junior
Emma Halle (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) scored a season-high seven goals to lead the Presidents to a 19-10 win over Collegiate Water Polo Association rival Grove City College Sunday morning in action at the Henry Memorial Natatorium.
The win improves the Presidents to 3-1 in CWPA play. The loss drops the Wolverines to 1-2 in league matches.
The Presidents opened the game with back-to-back goals before taking a 4-2 lead after the opening eight minutes. Halle scored twice in the first quarter.
W&J put together a big second quarter offensively to take control of the game by halftime. Freshman
Hallie Ratcliff (Friendswood, Texas/Friendswood) poured in three of her five goals during the second quarter. The Presidents scored seven times in the frame to build an 11-5 lead at halftime.
The Presidents scored the first five goals of the third quarter to swell their lead to double digits. Halle accounted for three of the goals during the run while Ratcliff and junior
Sydney Neumann (Long Beach, Calif./Millikan) also found the back of the net as the lead moved to 16-6. The teams traded goals over the final 1:20 of the frame as W&J led 17-7 going to the fourth.

Mekkiye Ergun (Chicago, Ill./Lake View) accounted for the final two goals for the Presidents as they finished off the double-digit win.
Halle added two assists and six steals. Ratcliff finished with five goals, three assists and three steals. Neumann added three scores.

W&J returns to action during Spring Break when they face Connecticut College in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. on Monday, March 18.
