ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Washington & Jefferson College women's water polo team concluded a busy stretch of its schedule with four matches this weekend with four matches at Macalester College in Minnesota. The Presidents went 1-3 this weekend versus the western foes in CWPA Division III.
Austin 15, W&J 14
A score with 1:14 to play helped Austin edge past W&J in the weekend opener Friday evening.
The two teams were all square at 4-4 after the opening quarter.
Emma Halle () scored a pair of goals over the first eight minutes for the Presidents.
The 'Roos scored the final two goals of the second quarter to take a 10-7 advantage into halftime. Three different Presidents scored in the second.
Halle scored three times in the third quarter. Her strike at the 2:28 mark brought the Presidents back within one at 12-11 heading to the fourth.
The Presidents tied the score on three occasions during the fourth quarter. However, Austin netted the final goal of the match to take the victory.
Halle finished with a team-high six goals.
Laura Anthony (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) and
Hallie Ratcliff (Friendswood, Texas/Friendswood) scored three times apiece.
Rylee Mitchell (Milan, Mich./Milan) finished with a pair of goals.

Macalester 20, W&J 10
Macalester led 7-0 after the first quarter, scored the first nine goals of the game and cruised to a 20-10 victory over W&J.
Halle netted four goals to pace the offense. Anthony and Ratcliff added two goals apiece. Didovich and
Mekkiye Ergun () scored a goal each.
Sky Wald (Granada Hills, Calif. / John F. Kennedy) made five saves in the loss.
Alliey Cunningham (Evanston, Ill. / Evanston Township) tallied three saves during the fourth quarter.

Augustana 16, W&J 8
A slow start doomed the Presidents against Augustana. The Presidents trailed by an 8-1 score after the first quarter. Augustana led 12-3 at halftime.
W&J slightly outscored Augustana in the second half. The Presidents held a 5-4 advantage in goals over the final 16 minutes.
Anthony and Halle both registered hat tricks. Mitchell and Ratcliff scored a goal each to round out the scoring.

W&J 13, Carthage 9
Both teams came out firing offensively in the final game of the weekend. Four different Presidents during the first quarter. With the score evened up at two goals apiece, W&J recorded back-to-back scores by Anthony and Halle to take the advantage. A late score by Ratcliff made it 5-3 Presidents after eight minutes.
Three-straight goals to open the second quarter swelled the W&J lead to 8-3. Halle notched back-to-back goals before Ratcliff found the back of the net. Carthage countered with three of the next four goals to trim the deficit to 9-6 at halftime.
W&J tacked on a pair of goals and shut out Carthage during the third quarter. Ratcliff and Didovich scored during a 59-second span for the lone goals of the stanza.
Anthony and Neumann scored during the fourth quarter as W&J finished off the victory.
Halle and Ratcliff both netted four goals in the win for W&J. Wald made a pair of saves during the first half. Cunningham recorded eight saves in the second half.

Up Next: W&J is now 4-4 in Collegiate Water Polo Association play. After a few weeks off, W&J heads to Grove City on April 13. The Presidents take on the host Wolverines and Penn State Behrend in non-CWPA action.
