The Series: W&J has won 14 of the 15 all-time meetings with Saint Vincent in a series that dates back to the modern era of football for the Bearcats (2007 to present). The two schools did not play in 2014 and 2015 due to an unbalanced PAC schedule. The lone SVC win came in Latrobe in 2011, a 35-27 victory at Chuck Noll Field. W&J has scored more than 40 points in each of the past five head-to-head meetings including a 51-0 win last year in week one.

Notable Notes:

STARTING HOT: W&J has won 13 straight season openers heading into 2024. W&J has a 22-2 record in season openers since the turn of the century.

PUGH'S PERFECTION: Jake Pugh had an excellent Junior season at QB for the Presidents. Pugh became the first President to win PAC Offensive Player of the Year since Bobby Swallow won the award in 2008. Pugh finished the season in the top 10 of D-III in passing TDs (38) and passer rating (181.9). Pugh will look to repeat the strong performance in 2024.

NOSE FOR THE ENDZONE: John Peduzzi finished the 2023 season ranked 4th in D-III in receiving TDs (18). Peduzzi averaged 1.64 TDs per game as well as picking up 1,126 receiving yards, which was good for 14th in D-III. Peduzzi enters his Junior season as a reigning All-Region 2 First Team selection.

40 STRAIGHT WINNING SEASONS: W&J clinched its 40th straight winning season last season when it downed Case Western Reserve 38-33 at Cameron Stadium. The string of consecutive winning seasons started in 1984. Only Linfield and Mount Union own longer such streaks.

DIETZ DOMINANCE: In 2023 Dawson Dietz followed up on his 2022 D3Football All-America First Team. Dietz racked up 10.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks during his Junior season. Dietz enters 2024 with a chance to become the first three time All-American in program history.

AROUND THE PAC: The 2024 season kicks off with five games on the opening weekend. Westminster is the lone PAC team that is idle in week one.

THE PRESIDENTIAL PRESSURE: The Presidents defense looks to benefit from a strong front seven. The linebacker room will be led by captain Justin Johns who led the team with 96 tackles, including five for loss in 2023. The room will also be bolstered by Keaton Hall, who had 55 tackles in 2023. On the inside of the defensive line, two-time All-American Dawson Dietz will look to be dominant once again in 2024 after leading the team with 6.5 sacks. Alongside Dietz will be Zach Valentine who racked up 2.5 sacks last season. Avery Keith and Sean Berardino will bookend the defensive line. Keith finished second on the team with six sacks, while Berardino added one of his own. Aidan Thomas, James Dawodu, and Tyler Primrose will also be in the mix in the trenches.
