Women’s Golf Holds Second Place Following PAC Fall Championships

WARREN, Ohio – The Washington & Jefferson College women's golf team concluded the fall portion of the Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships in second place. The team shot a combined 683 through two rounds.
 
The Basics
Tournament: PAC Fall Championships
Location: Warren, Ohio / The Grand Resort (The Lakes Golf Course)
W&J: 2nd out of 9
 
Top W&J Individual: Megan Joyce (Uniontown, Pa./Laurel Highlands) finished as W&J's top golfer through the first rounds of the conference championships. The senior shot 165 through the first two rounds, 21 shots over par. Joyce holds fourth place heading into the spring portion of the PAC Championships.
 
Notables: MacKenzie Schmeltz (Edwardsburg, Mich./Saint Joseph) and Julia Barthelemy (Crescent, Pa./Moon Area) joined Joyce in the top 10. Schmeltz finished in sixth place with a 169 through two rounds. Barthelemy followed up the seniors with a ninth-place finish and a 173. Freshman Brooke Vowcheck (Peters Township, Pa./Peters Township) finished in 12th with a 176 on the week. Sophomore Antolena Damico (Irwin, Pa./Penn Trafford) placed 14th with a 180 to cap the W&J golfers.
 
Tournament Highlights
Top Team: The Westminster Titans hold a 15-shot lead over the Presidents, having shot 668 as a team in two rounds. The Titans round two score of 331 propelled them to the sizable advantage.
 
Top Individual: Ava Liburdi of Grove City holds a one-shot lead over her teammate for sole possession of first place as the PAC Fall Medalist. Liburdi shot a 160 through two rounds of golf, currently 16 strokes over par.
