THE SERIES: The gridiron rivalry between W&J and Waynesburg spans back to 1897, and has been dominated by the Presidents. W&J holds a 48-4 advantage in the series and has won 20 out of the last 21 against Waynesburg. The Presidents won last year's meeting 55-16 at Waynesburg's John F. Wiley Stadium. The last time the Yellow Jackets claimed victory over W&J was in 2014, in a 31-28 overtime win. The last time the matchup was played in Washington, W&J won 33-28. Waynesburg has not won in Washington since 1954, when it claimed a 42-12 victory. The Red and Black have won each of the last ten games between the schools.
RICH TRADITION: The Washington & Jefferson football program has won 793 games in its 132-year history (794–407–40), ranking third among NCAA Division III schools behind Mount Union (874) and Wittenberg (807). Widener (734) and Wabash (731) round out the D-III top five. Across all NCAA divisions, the Presidents' win total places them 22nd all-time.
ONWARD OCTOBER: W&J has enjoyed consistent success in October under
Mike Sirianni, going 74-16 (.822) in the month since 2003.

HALFWAY HOME: W&J has thrived under
Mike Sirianni when leading at halftime, posting a 156–6 record (.963) in such games
STAHL-WART SENIOR: Senior quarterback
Kellan Stahl (Johnstown, Pa./Richland) was able to compile another solid performance in the week seven matchup at Saint Vincent. Stahl went 19-27 for 254 yards and two scores through the air. The senior signal-caller has thrown for over 250 yards in each of the Presidents' six games this season. His average of 298.3 yards through the air per game ranks 13th in Division III.
BALL HAWKS: Senior corner
Angelo Volomino (Jefferson Hills, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) had an excellent performance in the Presidents' week seven win at Saint Vincent. Volomino had three pass breakups and played a large part in holding the nation's leading receiver to just 56 yards on the afternoon. His 12 passes defended are tops in the PAC and second in Division III. Along with Volomino in the secondary, sophomore defensive back
Dante DeRubbo (Washington, Pa./Trinity) has picked off five passes this season which is tied for the national lead.
DYNAMIC DUO: Senior wideouts
John Peduzzi (Hilton Head, S.C./Hilton Head Christian Academy) and
Jacob Macosko (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) form one of the most decorated receiving tandems in the NCAA. In the 2024 campaign, the duo became the first in W&J history to each cross the 1,000 receiving yard mark in the same season. In week one, Peduzzi moved to second all-time in school history for both receiving yards and touchdowns. He stands 10 scores behind Jesse Zubik '18 on the touchdown list. Macosko sits two touchdowns shy of cracking the school's top five all-time. In week seven against Saint Vincent, both receivers scored touchdowns, with Macosko going for 124 yards in the game.
SPECIAL PLAYERS, SPECIAL TEAMS: The W&J special teams unit has been an impressive group in the 2025 season. Senior kicker/punter
Deven Wyandt (Altoona, Pa./Bishop Guilfoyle) has already matched a career high with five field goals, and set a new career mark with a 39 yard scoring kick. Wyandt is also averaging a career high with a 37.12 average on punts. The Presidents' punt block has been effective, as freshman linebacker
Owen Sinclair (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) is tied for third in the country with two blocked kicks. Sophomore wideout
Joey DeSabato (Glenshaw, Pa./Shaler Area) has also made his mark returning kicks, recording a pair of 50+ yard kick returns thus far. In kick coverage, senior
Preston Schry (New Castle, Pa./Shenango) has accumulated 10 special teams tackles, including three in each of the last two games.

The Presidents rolled up 236 yards rushing, averaging 7.2 yards per tote, working into 613 offensive yards. Waynesburg was able to get two touchdowns, first from Carson Shriver, then from Isaac Trout on a Thomas Burke III pass. The game also included a two-and-a-half hour weather delay just before halftime.
SCOUTING WAYNESBURG: The Waynesburg Yellow Jackets go into week eight with a 2-5 overall record, and 2-3 mark in league play. The Waynesburg offense has struggled this season, averaging 343 yards of offense per game. The Yellow Jackets have been set back on each side of the ball due to committing the fourth most penalties (61) among Division III teams this season. The Waynesburg defense has struggled to limit the passing game, as opponents average 235.3 yards through the air, and hold a 17-3 touchdown to interception ratio. Much like W&J, the Yellow Jackets do boast a strong punt block, as the unit has gotten to two punts this season.
MOVING THE ROCK: The W&J offense has been a very strong unit this season. The Presidents rank 21st in Division III in total offense, averaging 481 yards per game. They are powered by a passing attack that averages 316.5 yards through the air, ranking 15th in the nation. The Presidents' 181 first downs rank second in the division, trailing only Wisconsin-River Falls.
PRESIDENTIAL PRESSURE: The W&J pass rush has been a consistent unit this season. The Presidents rank third in Division III with an average of 3.67 team sacks per game. It is a well-balanced unit, with 11 different W&J defenders having at least half a sack on the season. Junior rusher
