THE SERIES: Washington & Jefferson and Thiel meet on the gridiron for the 78th time in series history. The rivalry dates back to 1896, when W&J pitched a 54-0 shutout to take the series lead. The Presidents claimed a 58-7 win in last year's matchup in Greenville and also rolled to a 56-14 victory the year prior, the last time the squads faced off in Washington. The last Thiel win in the series came in a 2005 matchup when the Tomcats defeated the Presidents 38-35 in Washington. The Presidents currently hold an 18-game winning streak over Thiel and have won 41 out of the last 42 against the Tomcats.

RICH TRADITION: The Washington & Jefferson football program has won 796 games in its 132-year history (796–407–40), ranking third among NCAA Division III schools behind Mount Union (877) and Wittenberg (808). Widener (736) and Wabash (733) round out the D-III top five. Across all NCAA divisions, the Presidents' win total places them 22nd all-time.

CHAMPIONS: W&J football has claimed its 28th PAC championship—the most in league history. The championship also marks the program's second consecutive league title, the first time the Presidents have done so since claiming the championships in the 2017 and 2018 seasons. If the Presidents win in Week 11, they will finish unbeaten in PAC play for the first time since 2017. The title marks the tenth for the program under Mike Sirianni. The Presidents also claimed the league's automatic qualifier for the NCAA Playoffs, where they will make their 28th appearance all-time, the third most in D-III history.

NOVEMBER REIGN: W&J has enjoyed consistent success in November under Mike Sirianni, going 54-15 (.783) in the month since the start of the 2003 season.

W&J VS. THE PAC: W&J maintains a winning record against every current PAC opponent:

HALFWAY HOME: W&J has thrived under Mike Sirianni when leading at halftime, posting a 159–6 record (.964) in such games.

STAHL-WART SENIOR: Senior quarterback Kellan Stahl (Johnstown, Pa./Richland) has put up monster numbers in his first season as the lead signal-caller for W&J. Stahl ranks ninth in Division III with 2,766 passing yards. Stahl has been named the PAC Offensive Player of the Week three times and broke the Division III single-game completion percentage record (minimum 20 attempts) with a standout performance against Waynesburg in Week Eight. He completed 27 of 28 passes (96.4%), five of which were for scores. Stahl also became the first W&J passer to throw for 400 yards in a game since 2019. He put up another big performance against Geneva in Week 10, with a career-high six touchdown passes and 384 yards on just 27 attempts.

BALL HAWKS: A big part of the Presidents' improvements in pass defense through the season have been thanks to a duo of standout defensive backs. Senior cornerback Angelo Volomino (Jefferson Hills, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) has been one of the top corners in Division III. His 14 passes defended lead the PAC and are tied for 7th in the nation. Sophomore Dante DeRubbo (Washington, Pa./Trinity) has recorded six interceptions this season, with four coming in key PAC games, as he recorded two against Grove City, and one each against Westminster and Case Western Reserve. The pick number for DeRubbo is tied for second in the nation.

DYNAMIC DUO: Senior wideouts John Peduzzi (Hilton Head, S.C./Hilton Head Christian Academy) and Jacob Macosko (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) form one of the most decorated receiving tandems in the NCAA. In the 2024 campaign, the duo became the first in W&J history to each surpass 1,000 receiving yards in the same season. Another solid season from Peduzzi has moved him into second all time in school history in career receiving yards and touchdowns, and third in receptions. Macosko is fifth in touchdown grabs and receiving yards and ranks fourth in receptions in school history.

PRESIDENTIAL PRESSURE: The W&J pass rush has been a consistent force this season. The Presidents are tied for second in Division III with 35 sacks as a team. Junior edge rusher Antoine Smith (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic) and senior interior lineman Tyler Primrose (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Catholic) are tied for the team lead with seven sacks apiece. Primrose was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week for his three-sack performance at Geneva last week. Junior edge defender Nathaniel Kadosh-Harris (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) has added 5.5 sacks as well. Senior tackle Aidan Thomas (Johnstown, Pa./Richland) has done a lot of the dirty work in the middle, and has also compiled two sacks, seven tackles for loss, and four tipped passes, one of which ended up in his hands for an interception.

THE LAST MATCHUP IN DETAIL: W&J took a trip to Greenville in week two of last season and claimed a 58-7 victory over Thiel. The Presidents controlled the game, with more than 500 yards of offense, and six passing touchdowns. Quarterback Jacob Pugh threw for four and was relieved by Stahl who tossed for two more scores. The Presidents were led on the ground by Kobe Derosa (New Castle, Pa./Laurel), who added two touchdowns and 51 yards on eight carries.

W&J scored on its first possession but were held scoreless for another 19 minutes of game time. However, W&J exploded for four touchdowns in the final eight-and-a-half minutes of the first half. The Presidents would add two scores each in both the third and fourth quarters. Thiel got its only score on a tipped pass pick-six from Luke Faber with W&J backed up deep in its own territory in the third quarter.

MOVING THE ROCK: The W&J offense has been a dominant unit this season. The Presidents rank 14th in Division III in total offense, averaging 483.4 yards per game. The passing attack leads the way, averaging 325.6 yards per game through the air, ranking 12th nationally. W&J's 253 first downs rank third in Division III.

42 STRAIGHT WINNING SEASONS: With the Week Nine win over Case Western Reserve, the Presidents secured their 42nd consecutive winning season. W&J began the streak in 1984, when the John Luckhardt-led team went 10–2 and captured the program's first-ever playoff victory. Only Linfield and Mount Union have longer active streaks of consecutive winning seasons.
