THE SERIES: Washington & Jefferson and Geneva meet on the gridiron for the 72nd time in series history. The rivalry dates back to 1891, when W&J shut out Geneva 26–0 in the inaugural matchup. The Presidents won last year's meeting 73–21 at Cameron Stadium. The last time the teams played in Beaver Falls was in 2023, when W&J earned a 45–7 victory. Geneva's last win over the Presidents came in the 1983 season, a 19–0 shutout in Beaver Falls. W&J has won 19 straight against the Golden Tornadoes, including all 17 matchups since Geneva joined the PAC in 2007.

RICH TRADITION: The Washington & Jefferson football program has won 795 games in its 132-year history (795–407–40), ranking third among NCAA Division III schools behind Mount Union (876) and Wittenberg (808). Widener (735) and Wabash (732) round out the D-III top five. Across all NCAA divisions, the Presidents' win total places them 22nd all-time.

NOVEMBER REIGN: W&J has enjoyed consistent success in November under Mike Sirianni, going 53-15 (.779) in the month since the start of the 2003 season.

W&J VS. THE PAC: The Presidents have claimed 27 PAC championships—the most in league history and more than the next three programs combined. Former members Carnegie Mellon (10), John Carroll (8), and Thomas More (8) trail behind. Among current PAC programs, Allegheny, Bethany, and Grove City each hold four titles. W&J also maintains a winning record against every current PAC opponent:

Team                                                 Record (Pct.)
Allegheny                                          24-20-1 (.545)
Bethany                                             79-21 (.790)
Case Western Reserve                    15-10 (.537)
Geneva                                               50-19-2 (.725)
Grove City                                        46-14 (.767)
Hiram                                                  12-7-1 (.632)
Saint Vincent                                   16-1 (.941)
Thiel                                                     53-22-2 (.707)
Waynesburg                                     49-4 (.925)
Westminster                                     40-7 (.851)
Total                                                  386-125-6 (.755)

HALFWAY HOME: W&J has thrived under Mike Sirianni when leading at halftime, posting a 158–6 record (.963) in such games.

STAHL-WART SENIOR: Senior quarterback Kellan Stahl (Johnstown, Pa./Richland) has put together an impressive resume in his first season as the Presidents' starting signal-caller. Stahl has twice been named the PAC Offensive Player of the Week and broke the Division III single-game completion percentage record (minimum 20 attempts) with a standout performance against Waynesburg in Week Eight. He completed 27 of 28 passes (96.4%), five of which were for scores. Stahl also became the first W&J passer to throw for 400 yards in a game since 2019.

BALL HAWKS: A big part of the Presidents' improvements in pass defense through the season have been thanks to a duo of standout defensive backs. Senior cornerback Angelo Volomino (Jefferson Hills, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) has been one of the top corners in Division III. His 13 passes defended lead the PAC and are tied for sixth in Division III. Sophomore Dante DeRubbo (Washington, Pa./Trinity)  has recorded six interceptions this season, with four coming in key PAC games, as he recorded two against Grove City, and one each against Westminster and Case Western Reserve. The pick number for DeRubbo is tied for second in the nation.

DYNAMIC DUO: Senior wideouts John Peduzzi (Hilton Head, S.C./Hilton Head Christian Academy) and Jacob Macosko (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) form one of the most decorated receiving tandems in the NCAA. In the 2024 campaign, the duo became the first in W&J history to each surpass 1,000 receiving yards in the same season. Another solid season from Peduzzi has moved him into second all time in school history in career receiving yards and touchdowns, and third in receptions. Macosko is tied for fifth in school history in touchdown grabs, ranks fourth in receptions, and is 127 yards shy of cracking the school's top five in yards.

LEADERS OF THE PAC: W&J currently holds the lead in the PAC and can clinch the league's automatic bid to the NCAA playoffs with a win at Geneva. In that scenario, the only team capable of tying W&J would be Grove City, but the Presidents hold the tiebreaker thanks to their head-to-head victory. If the Presidents are defeated by Geneva, they could still secure the automatic qualifier by defeating Thiel and having Geneva lose to Case Western Reserve in the final week of the regular season. W&J remains unbeaten in conference play. If the Presidents win their final two regular-season games, they will finish undefeated in PAC play for the first time since 2017.

MILESTONE MIKE: With last week's win over Case Western Reserve, W&J's Mike Sirianni claimed win number 200, becoming the sixth active NCAA football head coach and 94th all-time in NCAA history to do so.

SETTING THE EDGE: The W&J pass rush has been a consistent force this season. The Presidents rank fourth in Division III, averaging 3.62 team sacks per game. Junior edge rushers Antoine Smith (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic) and Nathaniel Kadosh-Harris (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) lead the unit with 5.5 sacks apiece. Kadosh-Harris was the unit's standout in Week Nine, as he recorded two key sack fumbles in the second half to help seal the win over Case Western Reserve.

THE LAST MATCHUP IN DETAIL: Geneva visited W&J's Cameron Stadium in Week Six of the 2024 season, where the Presidents rolled to a 73–21 victory — their highest scoring output since 2007. W&J was led by quarterback Jacob Pugh '25, who threw for six touchdowns in the win.

Both teams scored touchdowns on their first two possessions. After a nearly 10-minute scoring drive by Geneva, W&J responded with a quick five-play touchdown drive. Each team then struck deep, as Geneva connected on an 84-yard touchdown pass before Pugh found Peduzzi for a 62-yard score. From there, the Presidents seized control, scoring five consecutive touchdowns to build a 49–21 lead late in the third quarter. Geneva added a rushing touchdown, but W&J answered with two more offensive scores, followed by a Deven Wyandt (Altoona, Pa./Bishop Guilfoyle) field goal and a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown to seal the 73–21 final.

The Golden Tornadoes completed just two of five passes for 98 yards, relying heavily on the ground game with 142 rushing yards on 59 carries. Peduzzi and Macosko led the W&J receiving corps, combining for 10 receptions, 205 yards, and two touchdowns each.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN TORNADOES: After many seasons as a ground-and-pound offense, the Golden Tornadoes have transitioned to a spread attack this season, producing one of the nation's most potent passing games. Quarterback Caleb Romano leads all of Division III in passing yards and ranks third nationally in touchdown passes. However, Romano has also thrown 12 interceptions, tied for the eighth-most in the country. Wide receiver Keaton Baker has been Romano's top target, ranking second nationally in receiving yards.

In the run game, Geneva averages just 78.4 yards per contest and 2.7 yards per carry, both figures ranking among the bottom 35 teams in Division III.

Defensively, the Golden Tornadoes have struggled against the pass, allowing opponents to average 303.8 passing yards per game and 24 passing touchdowns, both marks in the bottom 10 nationally. However, Geneva has been far more effective against the run, holding opponents to 97.4 rushing yards per game and 3.1 yards per carry.

MOVING THE ROCK: The W&J offense has been a dominant unit this season. The Presidents rank 18th in Division III in total offense, averaging 481 yards per game. The passing attack leads the way, averaging 316.4 yards per game through the air, ranking 14th nationally. W&J's 232 first downs rank second in Division III, trailing only UW-River Falls.

CAN'T BLOCK BROCK: Sophomore linebacker Brock Sherman (Copley, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) ranks 33rd in Division III with 78 tackles. Sherman has stuffed the stat sheet this season, also recording three sacks, 8.5 tackles for loss, and eight quarterback hurries. He has 40 more tackles than the next highest tackler for W&J.

42 STRAIGHT WINNING SEASONS: The Presidents have secured their 42nd consecutive winning season. W&J began the streak in 1984, when the John Luckhardt-led team went 10–2 and captured the program's first-ever playoff victory. Only Linfield and Mount Union have longer active streaks of consecutive winning seasons.
