The Washington & Jefferson College Presidents head to central Ohio for two non-conference games to close out the calendar year. W&J will face Otterbein University and Ohio Wesleyan University in their final contests before returning to Presidents' Athletic Conference play on January 7.

SCOUTING OTTERBEIN: Otterbein has opened the season in impressive fashion, compiling a 7-3 record through its first 10 games. The Cardinals and W&J have faced four common opponents so far—La Roche, Carnegie Mellon, Mount Union, and Marietta. Otterbein went undefeated against that group at 4–0, while the Presidents posted a 3-1 mark, with their lone setback coming against Carnegie Mellon. In last year's meeting between W&J and Otterbein (Nov. 9, 2024) two current Presidents,
Jaden Wan (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock) and
Stellanie Loutsion (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan), reached double-figures in the W&J victory. Wan led all W&J scorers with 13 points and seven rebounds.

Â
When: Tuesday, December 30, 2025
Where: Delaware, Ohio

Â
SCOUTING OHIO WESLEYAN: After knocking off W&J in the second round of last season's NCAA Tournament, Ohio Wesleyan narrowly fell to Baldwin Wallace in the following round. Ohio Wesleyan has continued its strong play into the 2025-26 campaign, jumping out to an 8–1 start. The Bishops have notched victories over ranked foes RV/#23 Hope and #10/#7 John Carroll, with their only loss coming against #21/#18 Calvin. Both Ohio Wesleyan and Washington & Jefferson have also defeated Ohio Northern this season.
Â
OTTERBEIN VS. OHIO WESLEYAN: W&J's two opponents on its trip to the Buckeye state have already squared off in the 2025-26 season. On November 10 Ohio Wesleyan defeated Otterbein 72-62 in Delaware, Ohio.
Â
PROGRAM PINNACLE: The Washington & Jefferson Presidents' 2024–25 campaign was the best in the 51-year history of women's basketball at the College. The team's 24 wins tied the program record for most in a single season, and it's thrilling overtime victory over No. 24 Messiah in the first round of the NCAA Tournament marked the first national tournament win in program history. W&J also secured its 13th conference tournament championship with a title-round triumph over Chatham.
Â
SCHOOL DAY STUMBLE: After opening the season 7–1, the Presidents were defeated 78–67 in their latest matchup on December 17, falling to Carnegie Mellon on School Day at the Salvitti Family Gymnasium. Nearly 600 students from the local Trinity school district filled the stands, creating a lively atmosphere. W&J struggled offensively, connecting on just 36.5% of their shots from the field. The Red & Black managed just seven points from their bench, while Carnegie Mellon's reserves contributed 23 points.
Â
BATTLE-TESTED: W&J's schedule has already featured five opponents that reached their respective conference championship games last season, including two that went on to win their league titles. Furthermore, four of W&J's opponents participated in the NCAA tournament last season. One of W&J's two losses this season came on November 22 against SUNY Cortland, who was ranked seventh in the nation by D3hoops.com at the time.
Â
PERFECT IN THE PAC: Through the first two games of PAC play, the Presidents are one of four teams who are a perfect 2-0, having picked up wins against Chatham and Franciscan. W&J will play its next league game against Bethany on January 7, marking more than a month between PAC contests.
Â
SEASONAL SLOWDOWN: W&J played just three games between November 26 and December 28, due to the various holiday breaks. The back-to-back days of competition against Otterbein (Dec. 29) and Ohio Wesleyan (Dec. 30) mark the last two regular season non-league games for the Presidents and will act as a final tune up for W&J heading into PAC play.
Â
BEST IN THE U.S.: The Presidents lead all of Division III with a team free-throw shooting percentage of 82.42%. That mark also ranks fourth across all of Division I, II, and III women's basketball.
Â
DERUBBO-DO-IT-ALL: W&J graduate student
Riley DeRubbo (Washington, Pa./Trinity) has been a consistent all-around contributor this season, placing in the top 10 among PAC players in six different statistical categories. Her standout numbers include averages of 16.3 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 34.0 minutes per game.
Â
HEAVY HITTERS: The Presidents showcase a strong scoring lineup, highlighted by three players averaging over 13 points per game and two more contributing more than eight points per game. Despite this, bench production has been scarce for W&J through its first nine games.
