NEW CONCORD, Ohio – The Washington & Jefferson College track & field teams wrapped competition at the Muskie Meet #4. The men finished fifth of nine teams while the women took sixth of eight teams.
Freshman jumper
Elijah Thomas led the charge for the W&J men with a first place-finish in the triple jump with a top jump of 12.71 meters (41' 8.50").
Fellow freshman,
Noah Neil (California, Pa./California Area), added two productive performances on the night. Neil's best finish came in the high jump where he logged a top height of 1.80 meters (5' 10.75") to finish second. Neild also just missed the finals of the 60-meter hurdles after placing 10
th with a time of 9.25.
Freshman
Ethan Coble (California, Pa./California Area) logged a second-place finish in the 500-meter dash with a time of 1:12.88.
Anthony Cestaro III (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers) nearly broke a record for the third-straight week in the sprint events. Cestaro III placed fourth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.05, which is 0.02 seconds from breaking the current record held by the junior.
Sophomore
Nick DeSanto (California, Pa./California Area) took third in the long jump with a distance of 6.39 meters (20' 11.75").
Maria Gilles (North Ridgeville, Ohio/Lake Ridge Academy) spearheaded the W&J women's efforts. Gilles finished in second with a time of 5:30.12.
Sarah Schneider (Warren, Ohio/Lordstown) registered two third-place finishes in the 60-meter hurdles and the long jump with respective marks of 9.47 and 5.05 meters (16' 7"). In the preliminary round of the 60 hurdles, the junior ran to a season-best time of 9.42. Schneider also placed 12
th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 29.03.
Freshman
Lainey Hartner (Washington, Pa./Fort Cherry) placed seventh in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:10.28.
Rylee Miller (West Mifflin, Pa./West Mifflin) added a time finish in the jump events for the Presidents. Miller placed eighth in the high jump with a top height of 1.41 meters (4' 7.50").
The Presidents return to the track for the 2025 Indoor Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships next Thursday (Feb. 27).
